Aditya Birla Group Stratos 2025 Winners Share Their Journey To Success
In the first year of B-school, the schedule quickly becomes a blur of deadlines, assignments, and a non-stop influx of case competition launches. It's easy to feel overwhelmed and start treating every competition as just another item on the checklist.
But of all the opportunities that came our way, Aditya Birla Group (ABG) Stratos was the one truly worth taking the leap for.
Right from the start, Stratos stood apart from the usual competition format. Unlike the typical aptitude and psychometric tests common in many competitions, the initial simulation round tested something far more valuable, our ability to prepare, adapt, and deeply understand a complex operational mandate. Looking back, preparation was one of the areas where we shined the most, and it played a crucial role throughout our journey.
The Stratos Experience: Solving A Real Business Challenge
The true challenge began when we received the actual case.
The business case studies in Stratos were easily among the most comprehensive and detailed that we had encountered. ABG doesn't give you a sanitized, high-level summary of a business problem. Instead, it gives you the business in its entirety, from granular financials to multiple decisions that you can consider and explore.
It took sleepless nights, countless discussions, and extensive research, but in an interesting way. It felt less like preparing for a competition and more like solving a mystery, trying to uncover the best possible solution to a real business problem.
A major contributor to our journey was the support we received from our ABG mentor. Beyond helping us understand whether we were moving in the right direction, our mentor connected us with resources, insights, and people we would not have otherwise had access to. That guidance played an important role in helping us strengthen our approach and refine our recommendations.
What It Takes To Succeed
Reaching the finals of a competition at this scale was an exhilarating experience. It felt like our hard work had paid off, but it also showed us how much more work was still required.
If we thought we were doing too much to prepare, we were shown time and time again that we were not. Students from some of the country's top B-schools were operating at the same level of intensity. At that stage, it became a battle of who could prepare better.
The networking opportunities, interactions with other finalist teams, and exposure to diverse perspectives reinforced the importance of preparation. Everyone had come with their best work, and it pushed us to raise our own standards even further.
One of the most unique aspects of the finale was the jury interaction. Unlike many case competitions where the Q&A is brief, Stratos gives ample time to critique every choice made by the participants not from a theoretical perspective, but from a practical business one.
The stress-test you are put through when questioned by leaders with more experience than your age teaches you an important lesson: the metric is not the final solution itself, but the rationale behind rejecting all the others.
Looking Back
Winning Stratos 2025 was one of the defining moments of our B-school journey. More than the title, it was the opportunity to work on a challenging business problem, learn from experienced professionals, and test ourselves against some of the brightest minds in the country.
If we had the chance to participate again, we absolutely would.
Because Stratos is not a competition about who can solve math faster or create the best presentation. It is about how creative, thorough, and thoughtful you can be while solving a real business challenge.
To all the first-year students, this is an opportunity not just to prove yourselves to others, but to yourselves. Embrace the challenge, trust the process, and make the most of every learning opportunity that comes your way.
