COVID-19 Pandemic has spared no one. The times are tough and most of the people affected by it are living hand to mouth. People are being laid off, salaries are being cut or they are being put on hold. These trying times call for understanding and sympathy. And this is exactly what a Pune-based Human Resource Manager at Annasaheb Magar Stadium jumbo Covid-19 unit, Vaishali Hande, has portrayed through her heartwarming gesture. Even though she was on a hospital bed, she made sure the staff got their salaries on time. Vaishali has been working with the hospital’s administration for years and with the Jumbo unit since last year.

Vaishali had developed fever, cold and other COVID-19 symptoms a couple of days ago, and a RT-PCR test confirmed her worst fears. She had tested positive and was advised home quarantine. But when her fever did not subside even after a few days, her husband who is in charge of the ICU at the same facility, suggested that she should get hospitalised.

Unfortunately, her admission coincided with the time when salaries of around 500 staff members were to be processed. Even though she was doing unwell, she ensured that the staff members got their salaries on time. She understood that times were desperate and that timely payment was a necessity, thus, she got a laptop to clear all the payments from her hospital bed.

Vaishali is a mother of an 11-year-old daughter. She said, “The hospitalisation coincided with the period when salaries are cleared between the 10 to 15th of every month. There are staffers, who are from other states, cities and salary is important for them.”

The Director of MedBros Healthcare Private Ltd, Sangram Kapale, said they asked her to rest, but she was insistent on clearing the payment on time.

The COVID-19 Jumbo facility was restarted in the last week of March.
