NET (National Eligibility Test) is conducted to check the eligibility of the candidates who want to be a teacher at college or university level in India. It is conducted by CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) on behalf of UGC (University Grants Commission), so many of us still call it as UGC NET.

Eligibility Criteria
Age:
- Upper Age Limit for Junior Research Fellowship is 28 years.
- For OBC-Non Creamy Layer, Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, PWD category candidates, 5 years relaxation in the upper age limit will be provided.
- Candidates possessing L.L.M. degree will be eligible for 3 years relaxation in age.
- Relaxation will also be given to the candidates having research experience.
- There’s no prescribed upper age limit for applying for the post of Assistant Professor.
Educational Qualification:
- The candidates applying for CBSE UGC NET 2018 should have qualified the Master’s degree or equivalent in listed subjects scoring 55% from any state or central recognized university (50% for SC/ST/OBC/PWD candidates).
- The appearing candidates of final year are also eligible to apply for the examination (provided they have to qualify the examination before awarding the post). These candidates must have to qualify their Master’s degree within 2 years from the date of NET results.
- Those candidates will get 5% relaxation in aggregate marks whose PhD. was completed by 19th September 1992.
- The candidates are advised to appear in the subject of their Master’s only. The candidates whose post-graduate subjects are not listed in the prescribed list can appear in the related subjects.
Exam Format
- Exam Mode: Offline mode.
- OMR Sheet: Candidates have to mark their responses on the Optical Mark Reader (OMR) Sheet.
- Type of Questions: All the papers will have objective-type questions- MCQs.

Paper-I consists of 50 questions on teaching/research aptitude, reasoning ability, divergent thinking, comprehension and general awareness.
Paper-II consists of 100 objective type questions of 2 marks each based on the subject selected by the candidates.
However, the standard syllabus for Paper-I is similar for all the courses but Paper-II is very subject specific. One can focus more on the syllabus taught both in the Bachelor’s and Master’s. Online registration for CBSE NET December 2018
CBSE NET Dec 2018 Application Form is available online from September 01, 2018. The eligible candidate can apply from NTA official website, https://ntanet.nic.in/. Candidates must read the information bulletin regarding form filling in advance and keep the required documents ready in the prescribed format and size for uploading.
Last day for filling CBSE NET December 2018 form is 30 Sep 2018. The last date to submit application fee is on 1 Oct 2018. Applicants will receive their Admit Cards on or after 19 Nov 2018. The exams will be held between 09 to 23 Dec 2018.
