Arumuga, IIM Shillong bags the YES FUTURE READY Scholarship with focus and determination

An initiative to empower future business leaders for a digital world, YES FUTURE READY scholarship picks 30 exemplary scholars from over 25 select business and engineering campuses and grants them a scholarship amount of INR 2,00,000. YES FUTURE READY scholarship is the most neatly crafted way to analyse the capability of an individual I have seen till now. It was framed as three rounds. The round consisted of shortlisting students on the basis of their academia and achievements. The shortlisted students were then given an online test in order to evaluate their core competencies and skills. And in the last round, the further shortlisted students were supposed to submit an essay and go through an intensive interview with the top leadership.

My strategy and experience

My strategy was to make sure to clear the competitive assessment. It posed seemingly simple, yet confusing challenges that required a clear state of mind to make the cut. Finally, the telephonic interview tested the ability to be Future Ready where the senior leadership had a discussion with the participants. The telephonic conversation also ensured that the candidate is sound enough with thoughtful ideas to be able to be crowned a champion. The overall process was 2 to 3 weeks long.

The best part about YES FUTURE READY scholarship is that you'd be able to work on live projects with the senior leadership at YES Bank. This gives a new perspective regarding the workings and the initiatives that the bank is taking towards the economy and even sustainability.

Above everything, I must say that the award ceremony was definitely beyond giving away prizes. We were treated as guests and had interactive sessions with the senior leadership. Opportunities like these are very rare and can make a huge difference in a person’s progress chart.
