Campus Hiring Salary Package up by 137 per cent for Top IIM and IIT grads-Mettl Survey
Top IIM and IIT grads did it again. They grabbed the fat salary packages with a hoping 121 to 137 percent hike according to the Mettl survey. Mettl, an online assessments platform recently published Campus Hiring: Salary & Employment Report 2018 which is a comprehensive survey of salary levels, top roles, and employers across engineering and Management institutes in India.
The campus hiring companies offered nearly 121 percent hike in salary package as compared to yesteryears to the students of top six Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) which double what other graduates of other management institutes received.
The survey found that graduates from the top six IIMs—at Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Lucknow, Indore, and Kozhikode— were offered average salary packages of Rs 20.6 lakh, way higher than the overall average offered to an MBA graduate (Rs 9.6 lakh). Graduates from other top government colleges and private colleges also grabbed a handsome package, with average salaries coming in at Rs 18 lakh and Rs 19.6 lakh, respectively.
The students of top IITs of the country received as much as 137 percent hike. The top IITs at Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Kharagpur, Roorkee, Kanpur, and Guwahati had an average entry-level salary of Rs 11.1 lakh when compared with the top National Institutes of Technology student who were offered Rs 6 lakhs. The overall average salary across the top IITs, top NITs, new IITs, top private colleges, other NITs, other government colleges, and other private colleges stood at Rs 4.7 lakh.
B-school graduates who have a background in technology domain (B.Tech) and landed up in a job as IT consultants, product heads and Chief Technical Officer received the highest average salary package of Rs 14.8 lakh after their MBA, while the highest number of hires stood at 31 % from general management roles.
Amazon has topped the list of top employers at the management institutes followed by Deloitte and other players like KPMG, Aditya Birla Group, Cognizant, Accenture, etc. While for engineering graduates Google and Microsoft seem to be ahead in the race. Machine Learning and Data Scientist have been the most trending job roles. In the management category Consultant, Sales Manager, Business Analyst, Product Manager and Management Trainee emerge as the most popular job roles in which maximum hiring is taking place.
