CAT 2020 updates: Registration date extended, exam pattern changed!

Considering the continuing difficulty faced by candidates in procuring the documentation necessary for timely registration the IIMs have introduced certain changes in the CAT 2020 examination. To combat the disruptions caused by the pandemic, the conducting body of CAT 2020, IIM Indore has decided to extend the registration deadline to 5 pm, September 23, 2020 (Wednesday).

The major CAT 2020 update is the change in the exam pattern as per the notice issued on the official website - iimcat.ac. The key highlights are as follows:

• CAT 2020 will be for two hours of duration instead of three hours.
• The sectional time duration has been reduced to 40 minutes from 60 minutes.
• The exam will be conducted in three sessions instead of two sessions on November 29, 2020.
• IIM Indore will release the information related to relevant changes in CAT 2020 exam pattern on September 20.

After eliminating 20 minutes from each section, the final sectional time allotment is as follows:

• The registration deadlines will not be extended further and candidates are requested to keep a check on their official website for further details.
• IIM Indore will release tutorials to understand the revised format on the CAT website from October 2020. 
• In spite of the time deduction, the candidates will not be allowed to switch from one section to another while answering the questions.
• Once the registration is completed the candidates who have paid their registration fees can edit their photograph, signature, and test city preferences (if required).

So, all the aspiring candidates, it is requested to register well in advance to avoid a last-minute rush.
