CBSE declares NEET 2018, a Bihar Girl Top’s the list
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has declared the result of NEET 2018 on its website cbseneet.nic.in on 4th Jun’18.
The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test ( NEET) is an entrance examination for students conducted by CBSE in partnership with Prometric Testing Pvt Ltd (USA) for the students who wish to study Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) and dental course (BDS) in government or private medical colleges and dental colleges respectively in India.
The NEET entrance exam(2018) was held on 6 May and due to the drop in passing percentage to 17 percentage, 7,14,298 students passed the test which is one lakh more than 2017 NEET when 6,11,739 cleared the test. CBSE prepares a merit list of the successful candidates based on the score they have achieved and who have opted for 15% All India quota seats.
The merit list of successful candidates is then forwarded to DGHS (Medical Examination Cell), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, for the purpose of allotment of seats by online counselling.
Kalpana, from Bihar, secured 691 marks out of 720 to be the country topper. Himanshu Sharma topped Delhi and secured overall third position achieved 690 marks. Top 50 candidates have been from Delhi. Kerala, Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh have the highest number of successful candidates (76,778) followed by Kerala with 72,682 and Maharashtra with 70,184.
