Selection process for Amazon

My journey to Amazon wasn't easy. The selection process included 4 rounds:

  1. Group Discussion

  2. 3 rounds of interviews according to hierarchy.

Group Discussion

To prepare for giants like Amazon, you must make sure that you have full knowledge of what is described in the group discussion. Ensure that you have a thorough knowledge of the work that you have done during your summer internship. Specifically for Amazon, you must know its 15 principles.

The process started with the group discussion and there were 8 people in the group. The topic for the GD was "Is space exploration worth the money invested?". I luckily started the GD and spoke against the topic as I saw that every other person was trying to start in the favor. This tactic can work in your favor if you have strong points to support your statement.

Thereafter, I presented some of the points and then the discussion moved towards its end. Besides that, I saw that there was a silence for a few seconds after a good amount of discussion. I took the opportunity to conclude it by summarizing everyone's point.

Interview Round

After clearing the GD round, it was the time for the interviews. There were three rounds of interviews which were in the series according to their hierarchy.

  1. The first interview was with the Group Manager

  2. The second interview with the Operations Manager

  3. The final interview by HR

The duration of the first interview was about 60 minutes. During the 60 minutes, my confidence was tested by stating "though your resume seems very interesting, you are not suitable for the job". It didn’t shake me even a little. I answered with confidence. In each interview, they were focussing on the 15 principles of Amazon. I cleared all these interview rounds and landed the role of Team Manager at Amazon.

Maybe Amazon is not my destination but is going to be a journey in itself! Your journey to Amazon might be difficult as well but it will be worth it.
