Dare2Compete IGNITE - The Spark to your Dreams! Realizing one dream at a time.
Why IGNITE?
In a World saturated with information, an average MBA aspirant has spent days browsing and gathering all he wants to know. The need for Unstop (formerly Dare2Compete)IGNITE arose, because of this very fact! There has to be a transmission of knowledge from a credible source. The noise has to be removed, for us to have a truly productive and efficient set of Business Leaders at the academic end of 2021.
Partners at IGNITE
Identifying the need and filling in the gaps, Unstop (formerly Dare2Compete)partnered with Corporates such as Hindustan Unilever Limited, ITC Limited, Reliance Industries Limited, Tata-TAS, Flipkart, Mckinsey & Company, Bain & Company, A.T. Kearney, PepsiCo, L'Oréal and Deutsche Bank; to conduct an interactive session for MBA aspirants. The session was conducted primarily to give a sneak peek into the next 2 years of their lives. Both professional and personal aspects of an MBA’s life were touched upon. An overall holistic way to survive the 2 years of MBA was the general setting at Unstop (formerly Dare2Compete)IGNITE.
IGNITE saw recruiters as well as freshly recruited candidates, along with converts from top 14 B-Schools, bringing the entire ecosystem under one roof. 1700+ registrations in 5 cities made this the largest initiative of its kind, till date.
Students from 14 premier B-schools including the six old IIMs, FMS, XLRI Jamshedpur, SPJIMR Mumbai, MDI Gurgaon, IIFT Delhi, NMIMS Mumbai, SIBM Pune, and NITIE Mumbai were invited to attend IGNITE in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Pune or Bangalore.
Key Take Aways
The fresh converts were offered a range of takeaways to help them take cognizance of what’s important. Attending HRs helped students understand what will help them get noticed during their Summers and Final Placements. This helped the students clear the ambiguity that lurked in the name of placements in their minds. It boosted the confidence of many and helped others understand how much was expected from them through the 2 years.
Corporates also shared practical nuances which are not explicitly taught in B-Schools. This invoked them to think on the lines of the skills and habits that they needed to pick for a smoother transition from B-Schools to the Corporate World. This will surely never be a part of their curriculum. But would still be equally important for climbing higher on the corporate ladder.
Life Lessons at IGNITE
One such instance was when Gaurav Bhatnagar, General Manager, Sales and Customer Development, North India, Hindustan Unilever Limited; said “Industrial revolution was about efficiency and 21st Century is about effectiveness. What you should learn from your MBA is moving from efficiency to effectiveness”. These words hit home with the MBA students.
The Corporates also mentioned the opportunities and scope of employment that their companies provide. Addressing all misconceptions when the discussion was opened to the audience. A few students asked questions pertaining to the consulting and FMCG industries. They were interested in knowing the roles offered. And some regarding the relevance of past records in terms of work experience and academics.
Curtain Call at IGNITE
Every session at Unstop (formerly Dare2Compete)IGNITE was concluded with an open house. Students were encouraged to ask questions which allowed them to network with recruiters from across the country.
Along with serious informative sessions, the event had fun activities like Quizzes and Social Media contests. The winners of Quizzes won Flipkart vouchers and winners of the Social Media contest won flight tickets from their home town to their B-School. The young converts left with a bag full of answers and goodies! Informal interaction led to an organic discussion which kept the audience on the edges of their seats. The session was well received by B-School aspirants.
