Bharti Airtel Limited, also known as Airtel, is one of the largest telecommunication services company. Headquartered in New Delhi, India, it also operates in 18 countries and the Channel Islands across South Asia and Africa. It is not an easy task to get placement at Bharti Airtel. But Debayan had his mind made up. With eagle like focus he set out to accomplish this mammoth task.

The selection process

The selection process was divided into four rounds.

  1. Pre-placement talk
  2. Group Discussion
  3. HR Interview
  4. Interview with HR head and Sales head

When I got to know that Airtel was coming to our campus for recruitment, I got excited. I started preparing for the placement at Bharti Airtel and focused on the current economic situation of the telecom industry. I did my research on the organisation and it's working in India. All my research helped me clear each of the very difficult rounds with ease and finesse.

Pre-placement talk

Pre-placement talk is a crucial step towards recruitment. The candidates need to know about the company and its working. The pre-placement round was carried out by the HR of Bharti Airtel. They briefed us about the company, about the job role and the career graph. In their placement talk they also spoke of the working culture and the learning prospects. Listening to the pre-placement talk I knew I have set out on the right course.

Group Discussion

So, as we moved to the second round, our Group Discussion round the topic given to us was on having a cashless economy in India. Here I decided to be a neutral speaker. I mainly focused on our Indian education ratio as well as on the agricultural status of our country, where most of the population is from the rural background.

HR Interview

After being shortlisted from the group discussion round, it was now time for the third round of the placement- The HR interview. While entering the interview room, I was filled with nervousness. The HR Head and the Zonal Business Manager were on the panel. They were looking for candidates who are energetic, passionate about channel sales, good analytical skills, and have very good leadership qualities.

Interview with HR Head and Sales Head

And finally the last round was the interview with the HR head and the sales head of the particular region where we were supposed to be placed. Final round of interview was taken by Eastern Regional HR Head and Sales Head. The results were in my favor and I got appointed as the Territory Sales Manager. I was shocked and relived at the same time.

All it takes is Hard Work

Knowing how huge the enterprise is, I made sure to prepare myself with questions that covered the position of the telecommunication industry and other facts that would help me during the interview rounds. Getting a job at Airtel is a big deal. Working at the sales department has given me the experience to deal with distributors, retailers, and sales associates. Airtel provides a safe and friendly work environment which makes the job exciting.

Always study about the company you are applying to. The extensive research about the enterprise will help you during placements, especially during the interview rounds. So gear up and prepare well. It is better to sweat in preparation than to bleed in war!
