An in-house candidate Aparna was a Researcher at TCS. Her main focus was on life sciences research. The unique diversity in roles piqued her interest in TAS and is the primary reason she applied. She goes onto say that diversity in roles translates into diversity in the people that one gets to work with, in work culture, and the tools used to solve a problem. Her expectations have been fully met.

Aparna goes on to talk about her current role at TAS. Her current work spans from Luxury Retailing to Public Health Nutrition. After the first year of rotation, she started at Luxury Retailing. Here she got the opportunity to connect rural artisans to an international audience. Aparna found this to be a fulfilling and satisfying experience.

Post-Luxury Retailing, she moved onto Tata Trust. Mr Ratan Tata after his retirement took on the responsibilities of Chairman, Tata Trust. Aparna has been a firsthand witness to the change management happening at Tata Trust.

A thrust area identified was addressing malnutrition in children, owing to the intergenerational consequences it had and the sheer scale of the problem in India.

Aparna shares that the difference between a corporate set up and a philanthropic organisation is that things are not always under your control. She goes on to elaborate, during her work on a project she has to coordinate with various stakeholders like the UNICEF and the Government machinery. With such large moving parts driving results is not easy but is a challenging and humbling experience. The scale of impact is something that keeps her going.

Aparna shares from her life on the personal front. Her son was 2 months old when she joined the TAS program. Reflecting back on the timing of her decision, Aparna says with conviction that the decision was the right one!

Aparna believes that TAS is the right choice for people who want to enjoy the journey and are not focussed on short term destinations.
