The most enriching experiences in our life have their own share of ups and downs. My journey to Deloitte was indeed an experience. I can still vividly recall the day, 20th September 2019, when my name was announced and I knew I was hired. It was a delight!

My eyes were set on Deloitte right when I joined Indus Business Academy, Bangalore. And, I feel proud that I could climb the stairway to Deloitte at one go. The firm doesn’t need any introduction. It is one of the 'Big Four' accounting organizations and also the largest professional services network in the world by revenue.  Moreover, my alumnus always talks about the rich, collaborative and conducive work culture there. Consequently, I always knew that kick-starting my career with Deloitte would open doors to all the great things I've dreamt of. However, I should warn you, journey to Deloitte isn't a cake-walk. It requires constant practice, thorough preparation, and strong belief in self.

The Selection Process for Deloitte:

The key areas of focus for my preparation for the D-day were communication, team building, and aptitude practice. To guide others here is an account of my journey to Deloitte as an Analyst.

The selection process of Deloitte consisted of 4 rounds:

  1. Aptitude Test
  2. Case Discussion
  3. Personal Interview
  4. Communication Test

Aptitude Test

It had a basic level of quantitative, logical reasoning and verbal questions. A little brush up on the fundamentals of Percentage, S.I., Problems on Age/Time/Work/Speed/Distance, Number System, and HCF/LCM would be sufficient to clear the cut-offs. Honestly, the quant section is not my forte, but with lots of rigorous practice, I passed the cut-offs successfully.

Case Discussion

This was a little tricky. The purpose of the discussion was not just to find solutions to the real-life business problems presented to us, but it was more about teamwork and supporting each other while finding the solutions. Deloitte believes in collaboration and not individualism. So keeping that in mind throughout the round, formed an integral part of the strategy.

Personal Interview

It was a whole new ball game altogether. I had three years of work experience prior to starting my MBA. So the panel mostly asked me about my journey in the previous company, my academics, family background, my aspirations, etc. A few questions were asked regarding relocation to a different state and reason behind choosing Deloitte. I have always been very confident in speaking my mind and thanks to the innumerable events I took part in my college, it really helped me close this interview successfully!

Communication Test

Finally, the last round tested our communication skills, particularly reading, listening, and fluency. For clearing this round, one needs to practice speaking and comprehending different English speaking accents. It is not a one-day job. It needs practice over a period of time to gain complete control over your communication skills.

Above all, I believed in myself throughout the placement process. Because they not only check your domain knowledge and communication expertise, but also your attitude and confidence. Before you convince them to hire you, you need to first convince yourself. Don't harbour even the tiniest doubt. “Just Believe: It will happen” has been my mantra throughout my life. On that note, I really hope you find your dream company where you will enjoy your Mondays.
