Mainak GIM shares the secret to getting placed at GEP
I always wanted to be a part of GEP as it is a global leader in digital procurement and supply chain solutions. Its unified approach of encompassing strategy, software, and managing services has helped enterprises rapidly build their infrastructure and capabilities required to power their performance. This approach has helped GEP to expand its list of coveted clients. These facts along with its work culture lured me to put my sweat and blood in getting placed at GEP. I knew that my prior experience in a similar domain as an IT professional would help me further pursue my aim of getting placed at GEP.

The Selection Process for GEP:

It was a long process that lasted for about 10 hours. Every candidate had to go through several rounds of interviews to get placed at GEP. Brushing up on major concepts of Marketing, Operations, Cost Accounting were the key areas of focus for cracking all the rounds. The selection process consisted of three rounds:

  1. CV selection

  2. Personal interview with the panel

  3. Personal interview with the Director

CV selection

The CV selection was based on past records. Before the D-day, I made sure to go through all the details mentioned. I kept going through it till I was convinced that I had the sequence and the story in place.

Interview with the panel and Director

In the interview rounds, everyone was given cases. Those varied from Market Entry, Exit and Remain strategies, Managing operations, etc. A basic reading on how to solve such case studies proved beneficial for me. The final round was of guesstimates. I attempted every caselet they presented and made a logical plan to solve it. My tip for solving such questions would be that don’t jump into solving it immediately. First, spare a few moments  to think about it step-by-step and then take action.

Tip: Wherever you get stuck, it is okay to ask questions to let the panel know of your thought process.

A Note for MBA aspirants:

Being confident is the key. Don’t be afraid to be you! Acknowledge that you are capable, good enough, and competent to get that job. Just discover your X-Factor as everyone is unique. Companies look for what you can contribute. Accordingly, focus on how your skills can be more beneficial for their growth compared to other candidates. For getting placed at GEP, I focused on differentiating myself from others with the help of my past records. And lastly, keep calm and articulate your thoughts in a clear manner.

Good Luck!
