A day in the life of a Fashion Model

Hi, I’m a fashion model and I work for a modelling agency. I’m a veteran struggler for five years. I’m currently involved in fashion modelling and commercial print modelling.

My dream is to be featured in Milan’s Fashion Week. My sleep cycles are governed by my work, my work is governed by my passion and my passion is the fuel that I run on. Here’s a day in my life:

7:00 AM: I’m going for my morning run. Normally, I run six miles around the block in an hour. My pedometer is on my wrist, and I have Creedence Clearwater Revival playing in my ears. That’s how you start a day, eh?

9:30 AM:  I have a photoshoot at 11:00 AM and I’m already at the venue. Models are required to be present at the location several hours before the shoot is due – it allows time for dressing and make-up.

11:00 AM: We are shooting for an upcoming apparel brand. This is my first day out of the three-day contract. The money’s good and their shoots seem interesting. Just getting set up for now.

Earlier, I used to get stressed out when it was this close to a shoot, but years of experience has given me confidence. My pulse is steady as I put on the last of my make-up.

11:45 AM: The first shoot is scheduled for the next 15 minutes. Meanwhile, I get a call from the agency that one of my shoots has been cancelled for later today and another one has been fixed in the next 2 hours.

This means I’ll have to leave from here in two hours and then return to complete the remaining indoor shoots. My agent said he’ll be calling the shoot director explaining him the situation to avoid confusion.

1:30 PM: The firsts shoot is through and I’m getting a little food before until my car arrives to take me to the second location.

So far, the day has been a complete waste, but I’m not making it worse by complaining about it. Hopefully, the next shoot will be a success!

2:30 PM: We’re shooting for jewellery here, the make-up and costume is going to be pretty hefty here. This might take a while. It almost hurts to have to wipe off the morning’s unused makeup and use their new one for a new ad. But again, one gets used to it.

3:30 PM: The Director of photography is struggling with his angle adjustments. I’m waiting patiently to get done with this. Very often you don’t get to work with the most professional people, but you need to remember that we must only strive to play our parts in the picture, and choose wisely.

4:30 PM: Last shot here. I’ll be moving to my previous shoot location after this. Some coffee first though. Once we go back, the same process will repeat itself and we’ll have to shoot for the apparel brand once again.

5:30 PM: We are back to the old location with more indoor agendas regarding the shoot. I love the costumes assigned to me in for this shoot

Black and white are my two favourite colours. The technical faults that prevented the morning session have been fixed, so we are now having a successful shoot that’s going on the nod.

7:30 PM: Packing up for the day here. I can go home and chill, but I get invited to all sorts of parties around the city – being a model makes you popular like that.

I’m planning to go to one tonight since most of my friends will be there as well. I’ll go home for a quick freshening-up before I hit the nightlife.

This is how a typical day in my life looks like. Being a fashion Model is not an easy task.

We hope this articles covered all your queries related to this profession.
