In wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, CBSE announced that the pending board exams will be conducted from July 1 to July 15. But since the COVID-19 curve does not look like it will be flattening anytime soon, CBSE released a notification saying that the exams would be held in home schools of the students. Further, the students who are no longer present nearby the location of their schools cant opt for a different exam centre. This information was released with guidelines that will govern the request to change the CBSE exam centre.
The decision to allow students to change their centres to ensure safety was already announced by HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal on May 20.
This step was taken because the lockdown left many students in districts different from their school district. Therefore when the exams were conducted, they would have to travel to their respective centres, thus exposing them to a risk of infection.
Although the lockdown is scheduled to be lifted on June 8, the threat of coronavirus is far from gone. Changing their exam centres will enable the students to take their exams without travelling the distance to their allotted centres.
Furthermore, one school in each district will be appointed as the nodal examination centre. This will be where the students from other districts currently residing there can appear for their CBSE Board examinations.
This comes as welcome news to students who had shifted locations due to the COVID lockdown.
Private candidates who have shifted from their district of examination centre to some other district in India can also make a request to change their exam centre
Candidates appearing for second change compartment, failures of previous year, improvement of performance, additional subject, female candidates of NCT of Delhi, visually impaired candidates appearing as private candidates and Patrachar Vidyalaya candidates who have shifted from their district of examination center to any other district in India can also apply to CBSE on the CBSE website or on the mobile app to change their district.
