What a summer internship at Brillio is like? -By Sayani Das from TAPMI

Brillio is an organization centred around advanced innovations and big data analytics. It has its headquarter in Santa Clara, California. A summer internship at Brillio would not only give me the creative and intellectual freedom to create and own a product but also ensured that I could also actively participate in their CSR activities named "BringingSmiles" that has won many awards for Brillio. Brillio also ensures that apart from being a market leader in the digital space, it gives back to society through its many STEM programs in CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility). Hence, choosing to intern here was a snap decision for me.

Describe the selection process for your summer internship at Brillio?

The selection process for a summer internship at Brillio consists of the following stages:

Shortlisting based on CV

Group Discussion

Personal Interview

The first step was quite standard as it involved shortlisting on the basis of CV. Group Discussion round and a Personal Interview followed this. To crack the interview, a good base and a clear understanding of the role is mandatory.

What did I learn during my internship?

I had the role of Go-to-market Strategist and product manager during my summer internship at Brillio. I was responsible for creating differentiated modelling of product maturity index. This is what would give a strategic edge to Brillio over its competitors. I was able to improve my hard skills and soft skills. Soft skills included product mindset, product strategy thinking and developing design thinking abilities. To hone my hard skills, I attended workshops and sessions on Agile, DevOps, Microservices and worked on dynamic radar modelling in Excel.

For my summer internship at Brillio, I moved to Bangalore. It was a very exciting experience, exploring the city that grows every minute in terms of its opportunities. Various corporates and startup cultures breathed life into this city. On our first day itself, we socialized with the senior leaders and had a pizza party along with intellectual conversations on careers. This proved very informative and gave me an idea as to what I wanted in my future.

If given the chance, I would love to join this organization. It not only ensures that you get to explore various domains and gain expertise in cross areas but also ensures that you give back to society through its award-winning CSR Bringing Smiles initiatives. In addition, it maintains a healthy work-life balance with flexible and employee-friendly HR policies.

What did I learn from my mentor during my internship?

My mentor was a big support system during my summer internship at Brillio. He ensured that I started from scratch and did sufficient research on product mindset and what it entails. This had to be ensured before diving deep into creating the product maturity model. In-depth sessions with solution architects and design studio team were required to get an understanding about Agile, DevOps, Microservices, design thinking and innovation.

Overall, my summer internship at Brillio was a heavenly experience for me. It comprised of opportunities for developing my potential and honing my skills for the future.

Mention some interesting incidents that happened during my Internship at Brillio

I gained sufficient knowledge about the different domains and subject areas through various workshops with experts. Also, I got the opportunity to be a part of the Summer Camp. It was held at Samarthanam Trust for the disabled. Brillio visits it regularly as a part of its teaching foundation. On another weekend, I got the opportunity to record audiobooks for the blind at the digital recording studio. Brillio had financed it.

I have also been extremely fortunate to have represented my institute TAPMI and Brillio in the Google MBA intern connect. Held in India 2019, it took place in Google Bangalore office. There, I got the chance to connect with around 200 MBA grads across top B-Schools. They shared their internship experience which was truly an out of the world experience!
