Future Group is one of the biggest conglomerates in India and shares the vision that their clients and partners are best served by making and executing future situations in the consumption space prompting monetary improvement. They are the pioneers in advancing buyer brands and conveyance positions and make consumption moderate for all client sections. The organization is known for having a prominent quality in Indian retail and style divisions with mainstream market chains like Big Bazaar and Food Bazaar. An internship at Future Group is exactly what my career needed at that point in time.

This was a rather interesting internship as Future Group is a big brand. It has multiple sub-brands and covers all the important aspects like food, fashion and home. Although I was a techie I had always wanted to try my hand at marketing. So, when an opportunity from such an esteemed organization appeared in my path, I grabbed it with both hands. I can go so far as saying that this was one of the best decisions I ever made in my life!

What is the selection process for an internship at Future Group?

The selection process for an Internship at Future Group comprises of the following stages:

  1. Group Discussion

  2. Personal Interview

The first step was Group Discussion which was conducted in groups of 10. Each of us were given a topic to discuss. My topic was "Who should be made the next brand ambassador of the Future Group". The Group Discussion was rather an interesting one. It was completely different than what I had expected and made me think a lot. Then came the Personal Interview round. This was conducted by 4 panelists who came with different experiences. Knowledge and the ability to think outside the box are the key components if you wish to pass this interview with flying colors.

What did I learn during my internship at Future Group?

During my internship at Future Group, I was offered the role of Digital Marketing. I improved my communication skills with internal as well as external stakeholders. Google Adwords and Facebook tools were some of the new and exciting things that I learned here. This internship at Future Group also gave me a hands-on experience for online as well as O2O Campaign Planning.

I moved to Mumbai for my internship at Future Group. I come from a tier-2 city. Hence, the first few days were rather difficult for me as Mumbai is a fast-paced city. I wasn't used to living in such a city. But slowly and steadily, I fell in love with the city. I loved the vibe of the place. Traveling in local areas gave me a different kind of feeling which I can’t explain in words. We used to roam around the city late at night, after work. We talked and laughed under the starry night. These were some unforgettable nights that I had. I really miss the city and its great culture.

The first outing came on the first day of my internship at Future Group. The digital marketing team had shifted to a new office and the head took us all out. We interacted with all our seniors one to one. There was so much to learn from them. The best part was that since we were a bit shy on our first day, they made us feel comfortable by sharing various experiences of their life.

Mention some interesting incidents that happened during your internship at Future Group?

In our first week, we had a presentation on the findings of Store Visit. During the presentation, the whole team which comprised of 20-25 people were present. We were scared of seeing so many people but the presentation went well and we learned a lot from the people.

Another interesting incident that happened was when we got a farewell cake. It was really overwhelming to see that our team gave us a similar farewell that they would give it to any of the employees when they left.

It also happened during the internship that my team gave me the complete authority to deal with external agencies. I never thought that I would get this kind of freedom in the internship itself. This boosted my confidence and made me more responsible.

This company has taught me a lot in 2 months. It has made me tap into abilities that I never thought I had in me. Moreover, people here are very warm and welcoming. I couldn't have asked for more. The amazing work culture, the various learning opportunities and the fun that I had here has evolved me into a better person. I would love an opportunity to work here full time.

What are the key takeaways from your internship?

One of the biggest takeaways of the feedback session was that instead of directly jumping to find solutions, it is important to understand the problem first. Similarly, it is equally important to imbibe the values of the company you are working with. MBA Colleges teach you the ideal solution for various problems. But that might or might not be suitable for your organization. Hence, knowing the company values inside out becomes really important.
