How an internship at Perfetti Van Melle enhanced my knowledge of the E-Commerce industry | Karan’s story

Perfetti Van Melle is truly a global company with operations spread across 150 countries. With 17,800+ employees worldwide, doing an internship at Perfetti Van Melle could provide me some exciting insights into the FMCG domain. I was offered the role of my interest, Sales. This was a plus point. So, I was hell-bent on converting this opportunity into something fruitful that will stay with me forever.  

What is the selection process for doing an internship at Perfetti Van Melle?

The selection process for doing an internship at Perfetti Van Melle required a candidate to pass through the four phases of:

1. CV Shortlisting
2. Aptitude Test
3. Case-Based Group Discussion
4. Personal Interview

Perfetti Van Melle’s selection process was quite extensive and tested me on parameters like General Sales Knowledge, Communication Skills and Aptitude. Sailing through all the rounds required sheer passion and dedication. Throughout the selection process, I held my ground firmly. I guess this is what turned in my favor.

What was my role during the internship?

During the course of my internship at Perfetti Van Melle, my role was that of E-Commerce Sales. The nature of my work always kept me on my toes. I had to assess a lot of information and exploit it to the benefit of the company. Each day came packed with a different challenge and I had to brainstorm ideas to deal with it. The best aspect of my internship at Perfetti Van Melle was the fact that I had enough room to experiment with my role. I was free to devise my own work methodology.

What did I learn during my internship at Perfetti Van Melle?

Given the domain of my role, I got a brilliant chance to hone my hard skills. Various areas that I could play around were Dashboarding, Sales, and most importantly my knowledge of E-Commerce Terminologies. Prior to my internship at Perfetti Van Melle, I had little to zero knowledge of the E-Commerce Industry. I will forever be indebted to Perfetti Van Melle. They taught me all that is needed to make an astounding career in the E-Commerce domain.

What is the work culture at Perfetti Van Melle?

What could be better than getting a chance to do an internship with a reputed organization that too in your home town? I guess the invaluable experience and memories that you make throughout your journey. There was no official team outing as such. But interacting with my fellow interns over lunch was always a fun-filled experience. We shared stories, we exchanged experiences. Most importantly, we learned to work in a team and grow together.

If working with Perfetti Van Melle was a choice, I would grab this opportunity without thinking twice. The reason is simply the enriching and comprehensive FMCG experience that Perfetti Van Melle provides. In a nutshell, this internship was one of the most enriching experiences of my life. Not only did I gain some invaluable insights for a lifetime but I also made memories which I’ll cherish forever. I would have seriously missed out on something great had I not joined Perfetti Van Melle for my summer internship! I am completely in awe of the hands-on experience that the company offered and look forward to becoming a part of this reputed organization in the near future.
