How I dealt with a project in employer branding during my internship with emids -By Rohit Shelam from SCMHRD Pune
I worked as a recruiter for 21 months in the past before I joined SCMHRD. The project I had during my summer internship with emids made me feel that I did the right thing to have a corporate experience before I joined an MBA program. I was a part of the recruitment team in emids and worked on employer branding as my summer internship project. The project dates were not affected even after the start of the lockdown. I started the project virtually with a smooth induction and onboarding process on 1st April 2020.
At emids LeAP is the portal for employees to develop their careers. It sends regular updates to all employees to learn something new, apply their mind, and perform at their best. Here is my story of how I learned, applied, and performed during my internship with emids.
Learn
It started with linchpin courses (Internal online learning and development platform) where I had to complete certain credits by taking online courses and tests. This helped me learn many things about emids like - culture and values, performance management system, IT-infrastructure, policies, and process to name a few. Introduction to the healthcare solution group was a comprehensive session and made me aware of the whole healthcare ecosystem which later helped me to define the employer value proposition for emids.
I was part of all the training conducted by the recruitment team on topics like recruitment matrix, technologies overview, applicant tracking system, employee referrals, etc. which helped me to define employer branding activities in a way that will suit emids. Few discussions with my manager and daily call with my buddy on employer branding made me learn how to identify the employer value proposition and look at the focus areas and what to communicate before deciding on branding activities.
Apply
This is very important for emids to help employees use their current learned capabilities and turn them into the project at hand. By the start of May, I was closely involved in a new software rollout and decided a few branding activities directed towards internal employees. This new company-wide rollout was going to change the whole talent ecosystem for emids and make it more transparent. I got a chance to work with the marketing vendor to identify what we can communicate to all the employees which could increase the adoption rate for this new software.
Perform
My internship with emids continued till 30th June 2020. Emids believe in helping each other perform and share knowledge. My network from LinkedIn, friends, and seniors from SCMHRD were my constant support. Sharing thoughts help you get clarity and keeps you more confident while giving your ideas to the management. Also, having a manager who is ready to listen to all your ideas keeps your spirit high and makes you do more. It has been great to be a part of a team that is willing to listen and perform together towards the end goal.
