HSBC, established 150+ years ago, is a leading giant in banking and financial services. It has played an instrumental role in connecting customers to opportunities since its inception. At present, HSBC serves more than 39 million customers worldwide with its reach across 66 countries. This illuminating history was a WOW factor for me and thus began my quest for securing my dream job at HSBC.

My journey of landing a job at HSBC as an Assistant Manager was no cakewalk. Preparation started right from day one of my MBA life. I just think that I am one of the bunch of fortunate individuals who chanced upon their dream jobs.

What is the selection process for securing a job at HSBC?

The selection process of HSBC was rigorous and consisted of:

  1. CV Shortlisting
  2. Group Discussion Rounds
  3. Personal interview - Technical
  4. Personal Interview - Culture Fit
  5. HR Round

After HSBC released the list of the selected candidates on the basis of CV, I started my preparation for HSBC’s selection process in full swing. To ace the GD, I kept myself abreast of current affairs and all the recent happenings across the globe. This information comes in handy during the GD. Since I was well-versed with all of this, I was able to collate my views with relevant examples and leave an indelible mark on the recruiter's mind.

Cracking both GD rounds, it was time for the Interview. In the Technical Interview, questions basically revolved around the domain of Banking and Finance. For the Culture Fit round, questions were picked straight from my CV. Since I had thoroughly researched before putting anything up in my CV, I did not find this round very challenging. I was well-acquainted with my academic projects and internship experiences. All this boosted my confidence and helped me drive the Interview in the right direction. Withstanding all the rounds, HSBC finally selected me as an Assistant Manager, my dream job.

Owing to my academic qualifications and achievements, I had the opportunity to negotiate my salary. The HSBC team found my demands to be well placed and so, offered me the desired package. To sum up, my journey of securing a job at HSBC was a well-rounded experience.
