Securing the role of the Grade A Officer at Indian Oil Corporation was the outcome of my dedicated preparation of 2 years. With a legacy of around 60 years, Indian Oil Corporation was the place I had always been on the lookout for. All my efforts bore fruit when I finally grabbed the opportunity of pursuing my job at the Indian Oil Corporation.

The selection process for securing a job consisted of the following three rounds:

  1. Group Discussion

  2. Group Activity

  3. Personal Interview

Cracking the Group Discussion round was not that tough. So, to shine through this round, I kept myself abreast of all the latest happenings across the globe. This knowledge came in handy and allowed me to present my opinions in an organized fashion. The next step was the Group Activity Round. It tested an individual on his or her ability to work in a team. Proactive participation is the key to sail through this round.

The final step of the selection process of Indian Oil Corporation was the Personal Interview. This was an elaborate round. The interview panel consisted of six to seven members. Moreover, it seemed that they had come prepared to grill me to the core. The questions ranged from HR Basics to Marketing in addition to Economics and Current Affairs. My sincere advice to all the aspirants is to be cautious. Do not put up anything on your CV that you are not confident about. The panel members are on the lookout. They require a valid explanation of each and every detail you pen down in your CV.

To sum up, I feel that confidence and diligence are two essential requisites to crack the selection process of the Indian Oil Corporation. As a fresher, I did not have enough scope to negotiate on the compensation front. Nevertheless, I am satisfied with what is being offered, owing to my current skill set.

My journey of landing a job at Indian Oil Corporation was full of ups and downs. But in the end, everything was worth it. I am, thus, looking forward to having a wonderful time being a part of this esteemed organization.
