Mark Cuban, referring to the current pandemic, has very rightly said that how you act now will define your brand for decades. Terms like 'customer-centricity' are put to test during times like these and how the truest of brands stay true to their values no matter what comes their way. My internship with Edelweiss Tokio Life Insurance was one such journey where I got to work with an organization that protects not only its customers but also each and every stakeholder by actually walking the talk. And how everything that I did there was in alignment with those values.
My internship journey with Edelweiss Tokio Life Insurance kicked-off the day I cleared its selection process. The entire process was very smooth without any hiccups. It consisted broadly of CV shortlisting, a group discussion and a personal interview, where the interviewer was extremely amiable.
I was really looking forward to my internship with Edelweiss Tokio Life Insurance and with all the uncertainty and anxiety going around, I was just looking at the calendar waiting for 20th April, the date of our virtual onboarding.
It was one of the warmest welcomes an organization could give an intern working remotely. It was filled with knowledge shared by leaders from Finance, Operations, Marketing, and HR interspersed with fun activities that helped us know each other better and ease into the culture.
I got an opportunity to work in Digital PR and Influencer targeting. Given how companies around the world are shifting from traditional forms of PR and marketing in general to new-age digital, influencers are the go-to persons for brands given how important a role they play in shaping public opinion because of the expertise in their particular niche. Their audiences look up to them for authentic, reliable information and recommendations. It has become all the more relevant now given how digital content is being consumed in an unprecedented way because of people staying at home.
I got a chance to build the entire influencer strategy for the coming year and also around an upcoming product launch. My mentors Yogini Joglekar and Amruta Joshi have been amazing in the support and guidance they have provided me. I got to learn so much from them and it will stay with me for a long time. The impact of the project was also tremendous in the sense that life insurance as a product should be a must-have for all, and uncertain times like this one just validates it all the more.
It would be fair to say that the learning curve was extremely steep during the 2 months of my internship. Right from the business leaders from different domains with whom we got to interact during our induction, to my mentors who held my back at each and every stage of the project to the CMO Abhishek Gupta with whom I had my mid and final reviews, each and every touch-point was filled with an experience that only helped me become a better professional. Everyone was so approachable which spoke volumes about the culture prevalent in the organization.
Everything that happened during my internship with Edelweiss Tokio Life Insurance, just made me want to be a part of their journey more and more and contribute and learn as much as I can. It wasn't all work. We, interns, were kept engaged with several fun activities which apart from being a stress buster, also helped in building priceless bonds with each other. Once I also received a sudden invite on Teams to be a part of the birthday celebrations of someone in the Marketing team and it was just fabulous. We cracked jokes and sang our favourite songs which were proof that the entire team functions like a family. I never felt left out during my two-month tenure.
It is very rare for an organization to place such an enormous trust in a remotely working intern when it comes to projects that are so critical in nature. Among other things, it motivated me to give my best at everything I did. In the end, it was hard to say goodbye but I know that bonds I built there are going to last forever.

Ins and outs of my learnings and a wonderful experience
