About to begin his internship stint at a big FMCG company, Soumik Roy, a first-year student at IMT Ghaziabad is excited to traverse the unseen lanes of a new city and explore the nuances of the FMCG sector. To begin with, he says that he will have an open mind and will be open to all learning experiences. A crucial trait, one must always try to make the most of all learning opportunities that comes their way, he implied.
In addition, to prepare for his internship, Soumik said, “I will be ready to interact with as many people as I can. This will help me get to know what is required of me and basically have a great learning experience”. To unravel the subtle shades of the company and understand how well he fits into the FMCG sector, he would get to know the place and people better.
Getting into the details of what will be required of him, he speaks of market visits and the need to comprehend consumer behaviour. This would give him an idea of why customers like buying a particular item along with where do they like buying it from. He brings to light the idea of projects in this context. Adding to it, he says that talking to different retailers and distributors will help him understand the market better.
Tying the loop to a close, Soumik mentions that he hasn’t ever interned with this big an FMCG firm ever which is why it will be a life-changing experience for him. Eagerly awaiting his two-month stint, this is his opportunity to interact with the best minds of the industry.
