How to win Mahindra War Room -With Akshay, Ayushi, Harshita, and Nidhi from IIFT Delhi
Mahindra is a company that operates in 22 industries and over 100 countries. It organizes one of India’s longest case study competitions - Mahindra War Room. The competition is conducted in 3 rounds, each one with a higher level of competitiveness than the previous.
Season 12 of the Mahindra War Room, follows the same aim as the previous editions of the competition - engaging students from top B-Schools by putting business problems from the top tier in front of them. There is just one eligibility criteria - enrollment in a 2 year MBA/PGP.
Participants submit their presentations outlining their solution to the given problems. A board of top Mahindra business executives study these presentations and evaluate the teams. The judgment criteria can be roughly outlined as revolving around:
- Issues analyzed strategically
- Innovative approach
- Execution
- Analysis of quality
- Issues covered thoroughly
- Quality factor
Only the top three teams from all the campuses make it to the Silver Tier round, where an audience poll will also be considered along with the judging panel’s ratings. Finally, selected teams from all campuses will compete further to reach the Grand Finale - Platinum Tier.
The winning team for Mahindra War Room season 12 had Ayushi Gupta, Akshay Bhutada, Harshita Saluja, and Nidhi Shah from IIFT. They have emerged as the international winning team of a major B-School competition. The theme this year was ‘Design to Disrupt’. After being given the real-life cases to pick from, they decided to go with a problem dealing with the disruption of the real estate sector with technology. They decided to go with a design thinking approach to begin their journey in this rigorous competition.
They designed a website and decided to build on it with the date they collected while working on their case study. They gave their best, and despite the time limit being decreased as their solution began to widen, they managed to emerge victorious in the competition. Their motto for the Mahindra War Room was to not leave any loopholes!
