Dare2Compete is a platform that provides opportunities to students and professionals in various domains like case challenges, hackathons, quizzes, jobs and internship opportunities, scholarships, workshops etc. Its reach is not only limited across B-schools but it also caters to the need of engineers and other graduates as well. Over the years, the D2C platform has provided many opportunities to thousands of students to achieve more in their academic journey. Hence, Unstop (formerly Dare2Compete)is a must-visit platform for each and every student that helps them prepare for the future.
The challenge
Among the different competitions that Unstop (formerly Dare2Compete)has offered, the participating team consisting of Pankaj Goyal, Anubhuti, Shweta Saxena, and Shweta Bhatt of FORE School of Management, New Delhi talks about their journey. They recall that they came up with a business plan during one of their Institute’s events which was later moulded and presented in the colleges’ Annual fest.
The idea gained more momentum when they participated in a flagship ideation competition hosted by IIT Roorkee. Pankaj recounts how the challenges in the competition drew them closer to the unique-never-thought idea. Their team studied different verticals that they could venture into and after weighing the pros and cons, came up with a refreshing idea of delivering home-cooked food to working professionals and college students residing in hostels.

Talking about their promising performance, Shweta outlines the structure of the competition and also recalls how they had to test various aspects of their business idea which pushed them to apply all their theoretical knowledge on the practical front.
Peek-a-boo
They say that the competition gave them a peek into the real-world business scenario as they researched extensively on their chosen product. The team did a full-fledged analysis from idea to model and believes that society might benefit from their idea and their vision might become a reality.
Pankaj highlights the importance of such competitions in a student’s journey and goes to say that such engagements can be a fulfilling experience. They not only have some business inclination but also an underlying social objective. Such competitions broaden the horizons of students and also introduces them to varying and new opportunities in the future.

Shweta and team pinpoint the nuances of networking during these competitions. These competitions inculcate business acumen in an individual which might be very useful when working in an organization, she added.
Such competitions not only help students and professionals in enriching their skills and abilities but also foster an environment to think out of the box and also helps students in paving their way up to the corporate world.
Does all progress take place outside the comfort zone?
The team’s journey in competitions helped them stand out from the crowd even during their Summer Internship selection process. As they recalled, their interview processes were largely dominated by their experiences in such competitions. They also added that the knowledge gained and imbibed during these challenges played an important role even during their summer internship.
All in all, the Unstop (formerly Dare2Compete)platform offers varying opportunities to students and professionals which if utilized well can contribute a lot in making good future managers and leaders.
