HR Summit, an annual conclave organized by Symbiosis Institute of Operations Management (SIOM) Nashik provides a platform for sharing best practices, insights, industry experiences, and latest breakthroughs in the field of HR by facilitating an environment for the exchange of ideas amongst eminent industry professionals through HR Summit.
In these dark times, making a decision can be nerve-wracking, and if these turbulent times compel you to act too slowly, the business might go under. And hence the need for an HR Summit to reflect on the changing and demanding scenario. Because as the situation nears a semblance of normalcy, business leaders will find ways to recalibrate strategies and keep the engine running.
Keeping this in mind, SIOM Nashik has introduced its 12th edition of the digital HR Summit 2020 with a motif “The unprecedented routes: Continuity amongst chaos”. The summit includes 9 episodes with different themes, each giving a new perspective for dealing with uncertainty starting from 22 August till 6 September 2020.

EPISODE 1
Date: 8 August 2020
Speakers: Mr. Anil Bhasin, President, Havells India and Ms. Nandini Mehta, VP HR, Landmark Group (Lifestyle International)
Topic: How Bad Times Bring out the Best In People and Fail Fast, Learn Fast, Improve Faster
With massive experience handling people, Mr. Bhasin said that ‘’People don’t follow leaders, people follow followers’’ stating that it is people who are the biggest assets and actively engaged people are assets. In this current architecture and hierarchy, he stated that it is not B2B or B2C but people to people the way ahead, which will create and pave the way ahead to organizational success.
Ms. Nandini Mehta took center-stage and shared the words of wisdom. She stated that with business prospering ahead, there is a growing notion of how as organizations go big, they are scared to tamper with their success hence not taking new choices and ideas, something a small-scale business will love to adapt. There will be times when success might turn to failures if we do not adapt, learn from other people’s mistakes, and powerfully stated that this learning, adapting will stay a continuous process.

In this episode, Dr. Dinesh Kumar Murugesan devised the concept of Total Rewards which includes everything that an organization can offer to its employees, not just in monetary terms but also in the form of other incentives. He very aptly mentioned that the right talent can take the organization to the right path of growth. Moreover, spending money in the right places and ensuring the efficiency of the workforce can lead to optimized cost spending.
While in a panel discussion with other HRs, Mr. Barttanu Das stressed the 3 S to tackle workforce planning in a crisis - Safety, Survival, and Stabilization. The employee safety should always be the prime concern along with the business survival and stabilization plans. It is pertinent for the organization to compensate well for its employee’s time and efforts to strengthen their commitment.
