IIM Ahmedabad’s PGP-FABM programme bags first rank for the fourth time

IIM Ahmedabad has retained the top pedestal for its program in food and agri-business management (PGP-FABM) in the world. Eduniversal Best Masters Ranking positioned the institute for the fourth consecutive year. Moreover, IIM is the only Indian institute that has made it to the prestigious list of Top-50 institutes.

With this, India has superseded the US which acquired the third position with Master of Agribusiness course by the CTexas A&M University. The ranking is based on different criteria which include institute and program’s reputation, overall student satisfaction, and first graduate salary.

Other major institutes in the list 


Among others, MBA en Agronegocios by Universidad Austral - Faculty of Business, Argentina stood at 2nd position, MS Management International Agro-Alimentaire by ESSEC Business School, France at 4th position and Master of Agribusiness by The University of Melbourne-Melbourne School of Land and Environment, Australia acquired the 5th position.  

Earlier in 1974, the PGP-FABM was launched as Post Graduate Programme with Specialisation Package in Agriculture (PGP-SPA). Eventually, it was refabricated as the two-year Post-Graduate course in Agri-business Management in 2000. 

Moreover, according to IIM, about 1,34,000 try their luck every year for just 46 seats. Currently, there are 22 women in the 2019-21 batch out of 46 students. Most of the candidates come with an engineering background. With 16 have science as their previous discipline, 20 are from an engineering discipline.  

PGP-FABM: IIM's prime objective 

In a written statement, the institute revealed the ultimate objective of the PGP-FABM program with an aim to make young men and women competent professional managers in the field of food and agri-business, rural and allied sectors.  

Over the years, the PGP-FABM program has expanded its horizons not only in agriculture but in other fields like food processing, commodities, and rural development sector and infrastructure. The course has a strong managerial substructure with a focus on its mission to excel well beyond expectations.
