The 20 campuses of the IIMs have started to shortlist applicants for admission to PGP/MBA 2021. IIM Kozhikode is the first IIM to open a window for the online application. For the WAT-PI round, CAT 2020 qualifiers who have selected IIM Kozhikode as their desired university in the CAT application form can now start to register.
On January 13, IIM Ahmedabad and IIM Visakhapatnam also began their initial selection phase, whereas IIM Lucknow kickstarted the process on January 15. IIM Bangalore and IIM Calcutta published their shortlist on January 20 and January 27 respectively. Following the similar pattern, IIM Indore and IIM Amritsar also announced the PGP shortlist 2021 in the third week of January.
The IIM selection procedure requires the submission of online applications by applicants for the WAT and PI. Candidates are selected for the same on the basis of their CAT performance and academic qualifications. Candidates should fill out their chosen institute's shortlist forms immediately after the results.
The shortlisting and selection process
- Shortlisting of candidates based on the CAT scores
Once the CAT results are out, applicants are asked to apply for each IIM on its official website for the WAT/GD-PI round which are then shortlisted on the basis of their CAT score and cut-offs.
- Screening of WAT-GD-PI candidates
In the second phase, on the basis of their CAT score and academic record, the institute shortlists the candidates who apply for WAT-GD-PI and then send an invitation for the WAT-GD-PI round.
- Composite score analysis and the final Choice
In the third phase, each candidate's composite score is determined on the basis of criteria to finalize their selection, such as CAT score, WAT-PI results, academic history, job skills, variety, etc.
