Big companies have started paying more attention to the students from the Executive MBA Program.IIMs and other top management schools in the country have seen a surge in the hiring of students from this program by big corporate houses.

According to Utanka Sarma, senior manager, career development services, IIM Bangalore, "Recruiters, overall, are very keen to recruit from such programmes because they offer a talent pool with robust experience as well as rigorous management education. In case of large organisations, students are typically recruited at the mid-management level while smaller organisations from time to time recruit students for senior or CXO-level roles.”

This year 78 companies participated in the campus placement process at IIM Calcutta which is up from 43 in the previous year - Accenture, Amazon, PwC, Flipkart, Cognizant were among the major recruiters for the graduates from the Executive Program. Incidentally, PwC was a first-time recruiter, along with others such as Axis Bank, Indian Port Association, Rivigo and CnK Management.

IIM Calcutta offers One full-year residential MBA in an Executive program to the professionals with more than 5 years of work experience. There has been a 21.5 percent increase in the average salary for its 11th batch (2017-18) which stood at Rs 24.45 lakh as compared to the previous year. The top salary bagged by a PGPEX student was Rs 89.25 lakh, an over 192% jump compared to the previous year's record.

In the same lines, IIM Indore has seen growing interest in its EPGP programme. The average salary has reportedly jumped from Rs 18 lakh to Rs 20 lakh in the past year. The highest salary was offered by Drew Marine, a global company providing technical solutions and services to the marine industry, was Rs 65 lakh, which is nearly 45% jump from the top package for the previous batch.

There has been a significant surge in the number of recruiters lining up for placements at the institute. KPMG, PwC, Michael Page, Oracle, Oyo Rooms and Bajaj Allianz were some new recruiters this year. Meanwhile, Accenture emerged as the top recruiter this year by hiring seven candidates at IIM Indore.

IIM-Bangalore also offers one-year, full-time executive post-graduate programme (EPGP), especially for professionals with 5-12 years of work experience. According to a report, the mean salary for the 2017-18 batch of this programme stood at Rs 23.5 lakh. Accenture, Indian Ports Association and Flipkart topped the recruiter's list.

Institutions outside the IIM league is also feeling the wind of change as well. The placement figures for 15-month-long MBA programme for executives at XLRI with at least 5 years of work experience is a testimony of that. Accenture emerged as the biggest recruiter this year by offering the highest salary package of Rs 28 lakhs. The institution also witnessed a hike in average salary from 17 lakhs to 18 lakhs.

In words of Vishpala Reddy, regional HR director for APAC at Uber,"Campus hiring has always been a key part of our overall talent strategy. We make key hires from a number of B-schools every year. This includes students pursuing executive MBA. As we focus on scaling our businesses in India, like Uber Eats that we launched just a year-and-a-half ago, hiring candidates from varied professional backgrounds adds immense value to our teams here."

Companies are slowly shifting their focus and hiring professionals who had been a part of MBA Executive program and most of the leading b-schools like IIMs, FMS, XLRI etc. do offer a course in this. Nowadays, organisations even send senior level professionals with a non-MBA background to learn fine management skills. MBA has taken a central role in building future business leaders for the country as well as worldwide
