IIT and IIM students launch helpline to help employ lockdown affected workers

When a pandemic and an economic downturn conspire against the people of a country and beyond, hell breaks loose. This is what happened when the coronavirus pandemic chained everybody in the confines of their homes and all news channel reported was how the economy was going downhill. Hundreds and thousands of people lost their jobs and numerous offers were revoked, leaving countless people jobless. 

Amidst these, the ones who suffered the most were workers who either were stranded in different parts of the country or daily wagers who lost their jobs due to the lockdown. Here’s when the IIT and IIM students launched a helpline and provided a helping hand to employ lockdown affected workers. 

With the launch of this helpline via a press release, the initiative quickly gained momentum with a number of students pooling in to volunteer for the noble cause. In conversation with representatives of team SIGMA, Bharatendu Verma and Aarushi Agarwal, IIM Ahmedabad, Vipul Kumar, Tata Institute of Social Sciences and Raghav Modi, IIT Delhi, this episode of Different Strokes speaks volumes about the one human emotion that binds us all - empathy.
