IIT Bhubaneswar pre-placement offers: Shattering records with the highest CTC of 43 LPA

On August 27th, the first array of pre-placement offers (PPOs) rushed in IIT Bhubaneswar. The institution witnessed a large number of offers and believes that an inspiring season awaits the students. Because of the pandemic, there were certain apprehensions about the placements. But the copious amount of pre-placement offers have erased all doubts for the engineering students of the batch 2020-21.

The director of IIT Bhubaneswar, R.V. Raja Kumar remarked that this season’s PPOs have already equaled last year’s total offers. When the institute saw a whopping increase in the number of pre-placement offers, it was known that it is on its path to surpass its last year’s numbers as well. The highest offer witnessed by the premier institute was 43 LPA and the other final year students are all geared up for their placement season. This upcoming season is going to commence from 31st October, 2020, and shall be conducted online.

Though the pandemic has disoriented the entire business economy of the world, the pre-placement offers in IIT Bhubaneswar are indicative of a positive career landscape. The pandemic has forced the corporations and the companies to tilt their work digitally and hence, the students shall be hired for the campus placements via the virtual mode. A new, digital trend of hiring the students shall set in place, said Dr. A.K. Pradhan who is the Professor-in-charge of the Career Development Cell of IIT Bhubaneswar.

The pre-placement offers are made by the respective companies and corporates (like D.E. Shaw, GEP Solutions, Microsoft, Goldman Sachs) to those students who have already interned with them during their academic session. This is done by companies so that they can measure the capabilities of their candidates in a better manner, and for an extended period of time.
