What happened at IIT Delhi's Industry Day 2019
IIT Delhi has worked on strengthening the foundations of corporate partners and relationships for decades. Where in the last five years, the institute has collaborated with around 200 industry partners, in 2017-18, the IIT-D community witnessed more than 615 consultancy projects along with sponsored research collaboration projects. Following the legacy, Industry Day 2019 was set to forge new collaborations and reinforce existing partnerships.
The day witnessed active participation of students, research scholars and the faculty members. Covering major aspects which bear relevance to the modern scenario, Industry Day 2019 focused around five thematic sessions. Built on grounds of developing Industry-Academia collaborations, the sessions were conducted on the following topics:
- Clean Energy for Sustainable Economy and Environment
- Sustainable Medical Technologies
- Sustainable Environment
- Emerging Nano and Advanced Materials
- Make In India
Students and faculty members from different departments showcased their talents, shedding light on the various projects they have been working on. Neatly organized stalls along with screens and posters for better demonstration gave students an opportunity to unveil their ideas in front of a larger audience. Apart from this, students from various departments also presented posters in relevance to the above-mentioned themes.
Sponsored by renowned firms like Shell, Tata Steel, AWS, JCB amidst many others, Industry Day 2019 welcomed eminent personalities from the industry. Rajeev Chaba, President & Managing Director, MG Motor India; Ravi Ramaswamy, Sr. Director & Head- Health Systems, Philips; R V Jasra, Senior VP, Head, Reliance Technology Group; Randeep Guleria, Director, AIIMS; were a few esteemed guests amongst the many who graced the occasion with their presence. Additionally, the day witnessed the presence of young entrepreneurs and officials from the government.
The day came to a close with the presentation of the best posters and felicitation of the students. A sincere vote of thanks by the Director of IIT Delhi, Prof. V. Ramgopal Rao, marked the end of the most eventful day of the year, the Industry Day 2019.
Projecting the eco-system of innovation within the compounds of IIT Delhi, Industry Day 2019 served as a conduit for the top talents to get recruited in the future. It brought the IIT Delhi community closer to the industry, providing a glimpse of what the future holds for them and what they must be looking forward to. A successful event thus, Industry Day 2019 stirred a fresh sense of enthusiasm amongst both, the students and the faculty members of IIT Delhi, inspiring them to perform better and become the leaders of tomorrow.
