IIT Gandhinagar Fellowship For Early Career Researchers With Salary Of INR 1 Lakh Per Month!

IITG - ECF is an excellent opportunity for young candidates to work on research projects in a creative and challenging ecosystem. Access to the advanced infrastructure and well-developed research facilities in IIT- Gandhinagar, will prove to be of utmost benefit to the selected candidates. They will also be provided a research fellowship amount of INR 1 Lakh per month, along with accommodation at IIT Gandhinagar.

The IIT Gandhinagar Fellowship is for aspirants who want to pursue a career in academia. The applications for the fellowship will be accepted online only and the last date for the same is April 20, 2022.

IIT Gandhinagar Fellowship 2022: General Details

IIT Gandhinagar Fellowship 2022: Important Details

• INR 1 Lakh per month (INR 90,000/- and INR 10,000/-HRA). Note that candidates availing of on-campus accommodation will not be eligible for HRA.
• INR 2 Lakh per year will be provided as a professional development grant to the research fellows.
• Grant of up to INR 1 Lakh will also be provided to support international travel for conferences, workshops, training programs, etc.
• Selected candidates in the IIT Gandhinagar fellowship who will be relocating from abroad will get additional funds of up to INR 1 Lakh for travel reimbursement for self, spouse, and dependents (if any) - note that air travel is limited to economy class, and this clause is subject to an agreement that a fellow will associate with IITGN for at least six months.
• Fellows will be allowed to submit individual proposals for financial support if they want to conduct seminars, workshops, and other scholarly activities.
• The initial contract for the IIT Gandhinagar fellowship will be for 1 year, and in case of outstanding performance, it may be extended for another year (total duration- 2 years.

IIT Gandhinagar Early Career Fellowship 2022: Expectations

• Fellows will have to work full-time for their research objectives in collaboration with a faculty member and joining a top academic institution should be their priority after the end of the fellowship.
• Fellows will have to work on specific research projects with a faculty member and also engage in other scholarly activities.
• Fellows will also have to teach courses and guide UG & PG students after assessing their research outcomes.
• The selected fellows will have to timely disseminate the research findings through scholarly/ academic publications.
• The faculty collaborator will be working closely with the student and will submit quarterly assessments to evaluate the fellow’s work to the Dean of R&D.
• Fellows are expected to stick to the ethos of the institute and must be proactive with their performance. There will be a zero-tolerance policy for poor performance.

IIT Gandhinagar Fellowship 2022: Selection Process

• To apply for the position, the applicants will develop a research proposal in a prescribed format (in collaboration with a faculty member at IITGN). The plan must outline the research and professional objectives with endorsement from the selected faculty. IIT Gandhinagar has requested to directly contact the faculty member before applying for the posts.
• A personal statement stating the ambition, goals & expectations during the fellowship must also be submitted. 
• The candidates in the Early Research Fellowship can also apply to work with a different faculty collaborator (other than their Ph.D. supervisor) on a topic of their mutual interest.
• The names and contact information of THREE referees who can objectively assess the candidate's potential for this Fellowship.
• Applicants in the IIT Gandhinagar early career fellowship are free to apply to ANY discipline and can submit only ONE application.
• Faculty members may also select more than one proposal.
