IIT Kharagpur integrates Medicine with Engineering courses
The School of Medical Science and Technology at IIT Kharagpur is all set to introduce new choice in the field of medicine and technology.
The new course will intake students on the basis of the GATE score. On successful completion of the two-year programme, the students will be awarded M.tech in Biomedical Engineering.
This course is designed to introduce biology and medicine to the world of engineering.
Since, we are moving towards refinement in the medical field; introducing engineering marvels can aid in diagnostics, surgery, etc.
The School already has a 3-year Master degree programme for MBBS students. The candidates must clear the national level entrance exam for admission. The course integrates technology with medicine. The candidates are awarded Masters in Medical Science and Technology upon completion.
IIT Kharagpur has joined hands with Tata Medical Centre and is offering joint MSc-PhD programmes in the field of Molecular Medical Microbiology, Nuclear Medicine and Medical Physics from the upcoming academic year, 2018.

IIT Kharagpur is on its way to open a super speciality hospital with 400 beds in 2019. This can further increase the scope of research and training.
