Are you ready to take on a challenging yet exciting career? Here is your chance. Indian Coast Guard has invited applications for 46 Assistant Commandant - Group A Gazetted officer positions. 

Established on 1 February 1977 by the Coast Guard Act 1978, the Indian Coast Guard is involved in the protection of all artificial islands, offshore terminals, and other installations in the country's territorial waters. It also assists the Department of Customs and other authorities in anti-smuggling operations. Below are the details.

Indian Coast Guard Recruitment 2023: Eligibility

General Duty (GD) 

21-25 years as on 01 Jul 2023

Male

  • Should hold a degree from a recognized university with a minimum 60% aggregate marks. 

  • Mathematics and Physics as subject up to Intermediate or class XII of 10+2+3 scheme of education or equivalent with minimum 55% aggregate marks in Mathematics and Physics. 

Technical (Mechanical)

21-25 years as on 01 Jul 2023

Male

  • Should hold an Engineering degree from a recognised university in Naval Architecture or Mechanical or Marine or Automotive or Mechatronics or Industrial and Production or Metallurgy or Design or Aeronautical or Aerospace with minimum 60% aggregate marks. 

  • Mathematics and Physics as subject up to intermediate or class XII of 10+2+3 scheme of education or equivalent with minimum 55% aggregate marks in Mathematics and Physics. 


Technical (Electrical/ Electronics)

21-25 years as on 01 Jul 2023

Male

  • Should hold an Engineering degree from a recognized university in Electrical or Electronics or Telecommunication or Instrumentation or Instrumentation and Control or Electronics and Communication or Power Engineering or Power Electronics with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks.

  • Mathematics and Physics as subjects up to intermediate or class XII of 10+2+3 scheme of education or equivalent with minimum 55% aggregate marks in Mathematics and Physics. 

Law Entry

21-30 years as on 01 Jul 2023

Male/Female

  • A degree in Law from a recognized university with a minimum 60% aggregate marks

For technical positions, the candidates who have completed graduation after the diploma are also eligible, provided they possess an aggregate of 55% marks in the diploma with Physics and Mathematics in its curriculum.

IMPORTANT: Candidates are not permitted to have permanent body tattoos on any part of the body.

Indian Coast Guard Recruitment 2023: Vacancies & Selection Process

The number of vacancies for Assistant Commandant positions is as follows:

General Duty (GD)

25 Posts

Tech

20 Posts

Law

1 Post

The base pay for the Assistant Commandant position would be INR 56,100. Some other benefits include: 

  • Medical cover for self and family, including dependent parents.
  • Furnished Government accommodation for self & family or House rent allowance
  • 45 days Earned leave and 08 days Casual leave every year with Leave Travel Concession (LTC)
  • Insurance cover of 1.25 Crore at a premium of 12,500/- per month as Group insurance
  • Contributory Pension Scheme and Gratuity on retirement as applicable. 

Selection Process

The selection procedure will be a 5 stage process for GD and Tech posts and 4 stage process for Law. These are: 

  • Stage I (Screening Test)
  • Stage II ( Preliminary Selection Board)
  • Stage III ( Final Selection Board)
  • Stage IV (Medical examination)
  • Stage V (Induction)

Candidates applying for the Law branch are exempted from stage I of CGCAT, i.e., screening test. The screening round tests the candidates based on their knowledge of English, General Science and Mathematics, reasoning skills, general knowledge, as well as relevant subject knowledge (for Tech posts).   • Applications will be accepted only through the online mode from 01 September 2023 to 15 September 2023. 
  • The candidates can log in on the official website and follow the instructions for registering for the exam. 
  • The exam fee would be INR 200 to be paid through online mode. (SC/ST candidates are exempted from payment of fees.)
