A Brief Background Of IPS Mohita Sharma

Mohita Sharma belongs to Kangra in Himachal Pradesh. Her father used to work in a Maruti company and her mother is a homemaker. Though Mohita's father did not earn much he tried his best to give good education to Mohita.

Mohita Sharma did her schooling at Delhi Public School, Dwarka. Thereafter, she went on to complete her B.Tech from Bharati Vidyapeeth College of Engineering, New Delhi in 2012. After completing her graduation, Mohita Sharma joined the Election Commission of India in 2016 as Assistant Section Officer. Even while working, she started preparing for the UPSC examination as her passion was to become an IPS officer. 

In 2016, she secured an AIR 262 in her 5th attempt and was recommended to the IPS in 2017. She married IFS officer Rushal Garg in 2019. They continue to serve the nation as civil servants, a role model for all aspirants that fate has its own way of bringing in sweet surprises, be it in career or in marriage.

IPS Mohita Sharma's Tryst With KBC 

IPS officer Mohita Sharma participated as a contestant along with Nazia Nasia in the KBC Season 12 and won INR 1 crore each. They became the first ever all-women winner of the KBC seasons thus far. Upon winning the coveted prize, they shouted in unison “Women Power”. 

With their in-depth understanding of the questions and the correct answers they provided, the KBC host Amitabh Bachchan was much impressed and showered his admiration on them. 

The question IPS Mohita Sharma answered that helped her win INR 1 crore was -

Which of these explosives was first patented in 1898 by German chemist Georg Friedrich Henning and first used in World War II?’ She gave the correct answer as RDX.

A Woman IPS Officer Serving In J&K
