Treasure Trove Of Opportunity | Summer Internship At Ogilvy & Mather - Jainam Vora's Experience
Unlike the selection process of other companies where one has to go for an interview, Ogilvy & Mather Ltd. had a unique approach for hiring interns. They selected candidates on the basis of a competition called “The Punchline”. The teams were asked to create an ad. The winner would get an opportunity for an internship at Ogilvy & Mather. Guess what! I won The Punchline and here I am sharing my internship story with you all!
Client Servicing Internship at Ogilvy & Mather
My internship at Ogilvy & Mather was for Client Servicing. It was a great opportunity to play the intermediary between the creatives and the clients. Above all being able to create a seamless experience for both parties and solving issues in an effective and efficient manner, is something truly rewarding. The sense of accomplishment one feels while juggling multiple things, without dropping the ball is something I cannot put in words! To top it all I was contributing directly to the company. Such a clear sight is the key motivator for employees and in my case interns, to perform better every day. As a result I was learning so much and was growing as a professional and a person.
How I grew professionally during my Internship at Ogilvy & Mather
Talking about growth, I got to augment my problem solving, people management, communication & negotiation skills. Interning with Ogilvy was a groundbreaking experience for me. I feel that any average college student is ripe with potential and needs that one mentor who can recognize that potential and nurture it. I got that at Ogilvy. The underlying feeling here is the feeling of self-worth and of course the ability to see yourself morph into a confident professional. It's all too overwhelming, realizing that the glass ceiling cannot limit you anymore.
The atmosphere at Ogilvy is always charged and friendly. It almost seems like positivity and creativity are seeping from the walls! At work, we talked about everything but work. It was a nice ice breaker. It feels like one is sitting among friends and having an engrossing conversation, without realizing that this conversation is the breeding ground for the next big idea! Stumbling upon that “Aha” moment very organically is something rare to come by. That is the level of intellect at Ogilvy! Every word spoken, breath taken has a purpose.
Work culture at Ogilvy & Mather
Ogilvy is a great company and offers opportunities to be creative and make an impact. At Ogilvy & Mather I felt that my ideas are being valued and I was learning a great deal in the process. Amidst all the glitz and glamour, I learnt a very important lesson. Learn to absorb pressure and be cognizant that its business and nothing personal at the end of the day.
Furthermore, talking about learnings from this internship at Ogilvy & Mather I have to share what my Manager said, “At the end, it is all about storytelling”. Then he showed me timeless campaigns like that of Fevicol and Cadbury. Another one was when I got an opportunity to get autograph of Piyush Pandey on his autobiography.
Ogilvy & Mather, a treasure trove of positivity, thought partnerships and the art of storytelling.
