JEE Advanced Results 2018 Declared

The Result for JEE (Joint Entrance Examination) Advanced Results 2018 has been declared on Sunday, 10th June. This year 155,158 candidates took the examination and a total of 18,138 students achieved success, out of which 2,076 are females. 

After arduous effort for months and years, many students have secured top positions in the examination. Piyush Goyal from Panchkula topped the rank list and scored 337 out of 360 marks. Following Piyush, next-in-line is Sahil Jain from Kota and Kalash Gupta from Delhi. Meenal Parekh secured the 6th position in the Common Rank List (CRL) and became the highest-ranking female in the country in JEE Advanced 2018. She has scored 318 out of 360 marks. The qualified students can now apply for prestigious IITs of the country.

Out of the total number of successful candidates, 8,794 qualified under the general category, 3,140 under the OBC category, 4,709 under SC, and 1,495 under ST category.

With the successful clearing of the JEE Advanced 2018, candidates will now have to attend an online counselling on the JEE Advanced portal, where the qualified candidates can apply for the colleges in order of their preference.

This year 11,279 seats are being offered in the IITs. As per Govt. of India directives 800 (10% of the total seats being offered in the IITs) supernumerary (in excess of the normal number) seats have been created specifically for female candidates in the IITs in order to improve the gender balance in IITs and boost their representation.

Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced, formerly known as IIT-JEE, is an entrance exam to take in new engineering students. It is conducted by one of the seven zonal IITs (IIT Roorkee, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Delhi, IIT Kanpur, IIT Bombay, IIT Madras, and IIT Guwahati). Joint Admission Board(JAB) is responsible for maintaining and deciding on the matters in relation to JEE. Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur was the official convener for the JEE Advanced Exams in 2018.

It is one of the most prestigious entrance examinations of the country and entry into the IITs is considered an act of merit. The score obtained by a candidate in JEE Advanced can take admission in one of the 23 Indian Institute of Technology (IITs), the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology, Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISERs), and the premier Indian Institute of Science (IISc). One can take a look at the Ranking list on Engineering Institutes released by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) under Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD).
