Knowledge is Power: My journey of grabbing a job at HCL Technologies
What is the selection process for a job at HCL Technologies?
The selection process for getting a job at HCL Technologies had the following components:
- Quantitative and Aptitude Test
- Interviews
The selection process is quite rigorous. It started with a quantitative and aptitude test which tested our reasoning ability. Then there were two to three rounds of personal interviews that tested our mettle.
My role at HCL Technologies was that of a Business Analyst. I had researched a lot about the role offered. So, I had a basic understanding of what I was required to do. I also worked a lot on my Technical skills as this was a key part of the job. General knowledge is a must if you want this job. Reading newspapers, magazines and books can really up your ante.
What were the key points of the selection procedure?
There was no Group Discussion for my profile but the preliminary round was all about the technical part of the role and how I would be able to integrate the technical and the management part together. I had prepared well for this and hence found no difficulty in getting to the next round.
The interviews were quite nerve-wracking for me at the beginning. I had a lot of questions directed on my personality and skills. But once I settled in, I slowly got into my groove. By the time I reached the final round of the interview, I had gained a lot of confidence. I could steer the interview in the direction that I wanted. It was a good experience. I learnt that being calm and confident is the key to cracking an interview. The salary was non-negotiable but the work experience that I got during my job at HCL Technologies was unmatched.
