New IIM Amritsar Director appointed for the first-time ever!
IIM Amritsar Director is now a full-time position occupied by Nagarajan Ramamoorthy. It is the 15th IIM set up by the Ministry of Human Resources Development and the Government of Punjab. The institute is being set up under the mentorship of IIM Kozhikode.
The Board of Governors of IIM Amritsar held the meeting on 22 April 2019 at Amritsar. They approved the appointment of Prof. Nagarajan Ramamoorthy as the Director of IIM Amritsar. It was as per the IIM Act 2017 and IIM Rules, 2018 notified by Ministry of HRD, Government of India.

Prof. Nagarajan Ramamoorthy - Introduction
Professor Nagarajan is a veteran and has received his P.G., Diploma in Personnel Management & Industrial Relations from XLRI, Jamshedpur. He pursued his Ph.D. in Business & Management from the Robert H. Smith School of Business, University of Maryland, USA.
After working for Indian Airlines, Brakes India Limited (TVS Group), and Voltas Limited (Tata Group), he left for the USA. Also, he has taught at the University of Maryland, Marymount University, and the University of Houston-Victoria. There, he has held several positions such as the Founding Chair of the Management and Marketing Department. Other positions included being a member of the School’s executive team for AACSB accreditation, member of the President’s cabinet and academic council, and President of the Faculty Council.
The new IIM Amritsar Director has extensive international experience which includes two Fulbright teaching and research scholarships to Bulgaria (The University of National and World Economy, Sofia) & Latvia (University of Applied Sciences, Valmiera), Inter-Country exchange scholarship to Austria (University of Applied Sciences, St. Poelten) among others.
He has served on the Peer Review team for Fulbright council for three years in the USA. He has been on the editorial boards of Journal of Occupational and Organizational Psychology and Irish Journal of Management. Also, he has been a peer reviewer for several leading international journals.
Several leading international journals have published the new IIM Amritsar Director's research on cross-cultural management. Some examples include Human Relations, British Journal of Management, International Journal of Human Resource Management, and Journal of International Management.
This is a step forward for IIM Amritsar. We can soon expect them to join the top echelons amongst the older IIMs. All eyes are set on the new IIM Amritsar Director, and the new innovative ideas he brings to the table.
