IIT Madras Invites Applications For 593 Free NPTEL Certification Courses

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Madras, has started accepting applications for 593 online certificate courses under the National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL). The courses are in Engineering, Science, Management, Humanities, and Social Sciences. They are open-source and can be accessed by everyone via the SWAYAM platform.

The registrations must be completed by January 31, 2022, on the official website of SWAYAM - NPTEL.

What is NPTEL?

NPTEL is a joint initiative by the IITs and IISc that makes learning accessible to everyone. The courses are designed by professors from these institutes and are available for free on the SWAYAM platform.

It is possible to check the course content and watch the video lessons without any registration. However, if you want a certificate after completion, then you must register first and pay a nominal fee to take the exam.

Furthermore, on the NPTEL platform, there is a wide range of courses to choose from. There are comprehensive programs on coding languages like JAVA and Python. For engineering students, there are also specialized courses on Data Science and Electrical Vehicles.

NPTEL and multi-disciplinary courses

NPTEL also offers several courses that are not directly related to Science and Engineering. You can find courses on English Literature, Cyber Law, Economics, Communication, Anthropology, Journalism, and many more areas!

If you have a tech background, you can access courses on Blockchain and Online Privacy. There are many interdisciplinary courses for Computer Science enthusiasts as well, and all of them have best-in-class course content that is completely up to date.

On top of that, to reach students who are not well-versed in English, several programs are available in regional languages. For instance, there is a course on Machine Language in Tamil and another on Signals and Systems in Hindi.

New courses on NPTEL

For the 2022 session, a handful of new courses have been introduced by NPTEL - IIT Madras. With each passing year, the number of courses on NPTEL increases, and the course content are revised according to the latest developments.
