As the lockdown seems to loosen its grip in the country, DU released a notification to inform students about the final dates for its Semester Examinations. The circular mentioned that the final semester/ term/ year examinations for all Undergraduate and Postgraduate Delhi University students including the ones registered with the School of Open Learning and Non-Collegiate Women Education Board (NCWEB) will be held from July 1, 2020.
The examinations will be conducted for a duration of two hours, in three sessions in a day, including Sundays. The date sheet for the respective examinations is likely to be released by the end of this month.
The notice also specified that in cases where the situation does not return to normal and students are required to maintain social distancing in order to stay safe and healthy, the Delhi University will adopt alternative modes of examination. In that regard, Open Book Examinations (OBE) will be conducted for UG and PG students of all programmes of final year/ term/ semester in addition to arrears (ER) of previous semester/ term. In such a situation, students will be permitted to sit for examinations in their respective courses as per the date sheet, from home or any other place, in accordance with the guidelines issued in this regard.
Along with this, all ex-students of Choice Based Credit System (CBCS), three-year semester scheme who were admitted in the year 2014, ex-students of Annual Scheme registered with NCWEB and SOL as per specified span period and students of erstwhile FYUP (B.Tech) shall also appear for their respective examinations as per the date sheet. Also, all these students shall appear for examinations in alternative modes, as mentioned above for regular students. They will be attempting their examinations as per their syllabus, applicable in accordance with the scheme of study at the time of their respective admissions.
The circular also noted that detailed guidelines for OBE along with the date sheet of all UG courses will be released by the end of this month and shall only be available on the official website of Delhi University. The PG students will be notified about their date sheet by their respective departments, faculty and centre. No other information will be sent to students separately by the examination branch in this context. Further, the notice also states that only the information available on the DU website will be considered authentic.
The notice ended with a note stating that final guidelines for the examinations of first and second year DU students, i.e. second and fourth semester, in undergraduate programs, and the students of first year, i.e., second semester, in case of PG programs, shall be issued separately, in due course of time.
