We must remember that almost the majority of the management institutes of the country were set up by the Government and they do regularly visit the campuses during the recruitment season.

While a large portion of the graduates still prefers working for the multinationals, however, there is a considerable size of the graduates who choose public institutions.

Professional stability and better perks are the main drivers that make working for a governmental department a lucrative choice for the students. Increased pay,  transparency in promotion and increment, convenient working hours, medical facilities, and the chance of moving around the country and the globe are some of the added benefits that can be availed by the Govt. job holders. General Manager in PSUs and Banks


A general manager is an official who has an obligation to oversee both the revenue and cost components of an organization. A general manager is moreover in charge of effective planning, delegating, coordinating, staffing, organizing, and decision making to accomplish a steady growth of an organisation.

The PSUs that may offer general manager post are National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC), State Trading Corporation of India, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (ONGC), Steel Authority of India (SAIL),National Small Industries Corporation Ltd, BSNL, IFCI Ltd, Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML), and so on. The number of opening differs every year. MBA graduates with a background in Finance also can join Govt. organisations like NABARD, and other nationalised banks like RBI, SBI, etc.

Management Trainees in PSUs

Management Trainee is one more choice accessible for MBA Freshers. PSUs offer openings in various divisions, for example, finance, operations, HR and so forth. The process of recruitment is generally a merit-based one, however, some PSUs may conduct their own test. The requirement for this post is MBA; however, other PG course students may also be eligible for the same. Marketing Officers in Nationalised Banks

To catch up with the development spree, most of the Governmental Banks and financial institutions are batting hard. Most of these public institutions have enormous assets, however, owing to their laggard approach and lack of upgradation they are yet to catch up with their private counterparts. Moreover, the majority of the rural banking system is under these public institutions and India’s rural business in the form of agriculture forms the backbone of its economy, so there is a wind of change which requires lot many specialised management graduates to bring a complete transformation.

Along with these, the banking sector is witnessing a very high amount of competition. To withstand this digital race, Marketing can be of the potent tool. The marketing officer is in charge of formulating techniques for marketing the products and services offered by the bank.  The responsibilities of a marketing officer could incorporate coordinating with an ad agency, promoting products to banks, managing social media, managing marketing campaigns and anything related.

Personnel Officers (HR)

The personnel officer in a bank is in charge of human resources activities. The activities performed in the capacity of a personnel officer incorporate on deciding upon posting of employees, arranging training programs, deciding perks, conducting promotional exercises, retirement benefit disbursal and managing the execution of staff. They have to take care of the smooth working of the HR division.
