Catching with the current business and technology fervor of the country and its stride towards the fast development, the Administrative Council of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) has decided to open two new schools, the School of Engineering and the School of Management & Entrepreneurship.
According to the reports, the Central Government has promised to allocate Rs 180 crore to set up the two schools and out of which Rs 23 crore has already been released for the Engineering school.
The varsity will bestow the dual degree of B.tech and M.tech/M.sc in its integrated five-year programme. The course designed for management students will focus more on informal innovation.
Starting this July 2018, there will be an intake of 50 students in the Engineering branch. Thereafter, more seats will be allotted in the coming years.
If things go according to the plan, it will add a new plume to the wings of varsity which has always been known for its arts and humanities courses.
Since JNU has always attracted the best minds of the country, we can hope that with the introduction of these two new streams there will be more bright minds who will pass by its gates to add their taste of innovation in our fast developing economy and infrastructure.
