It’s The ‘RuPay ON-THE-GO Designathon’ Time!

Gone are the days when you had to pull out your cash-laden wallet to make a payment. Today, all you have to do is just ‘tap and pay.’ This new way of transacting through everyday objects such as cards, watches, or keyrings has redefined the shopping experience by making the payment process convenient, fast, and safe. 

To add to this list of wearables that can be used to tap and pay, the Indian payment service system, RuPay, has come up with its first ‘ON-THE-GO Designathon’- a design challenge to nudge creative minds to bring out their best. In short, if you can shell out your creativity, RuPay is up for buying your idea!

RuPay’s First ON-THE-GO Designathon 2022

Design intelligence made visible! To tap into the intelligence of young innovators, RuPay has unveiled the ‘ON-THE-GO Designathon.’ Open to all college students across all campuses in the country, this challenge is aimed at designing wearable tech pieces for making seamless payments. Here is what the participants ought to do to be a part of India’s changing payment landscape through Rupay’s On-The-Go Designathon.

• Register individually for the competition using this link. 
• Select a form factor i.e. any object that the participant finds suitable as a payment instrument. 
• Create a unique design for the selected form factor. One can use software, pen, pencil, colors, paint, etc. for this.
• Submit a PPT describing the details of the form factor. 
• If shortlisted, the participant will get to work on their proposed design through overall technical guidance from RuPay experts. 
• The fine-tuned ideas shall then be presented in front of the final jury. 

The designs will be judged on various parameters such as creativity, customer convenience, usability, scalability of the concept, etc. The national winner will get premium gadgets of up to INR 1,00,000 and a chance to collaborate with RuPay!
