Sanju Viswanath Samson was born to Samson Viswanath (a retired Police Constable) and Lijy Viswanath (a housewife) in a small coastal village in Kerela on 11 November 1994. Though born in Kerela, Sanju spent most of his early childhood in North Delhi. This is because his father was a constable there, and they stayed in the Police Residential colony in the GTB Nagar neighborhood of Delhi.

The now-famous cricketer first started training in the academy at the DL DAV Model School. However, his father decided to retire from the job and moved to Kerela when Sanju failed to make Delhi's Under-13 cricket team. The retired constable wanted to give both his sons better training, and this is exactly what happened. The move changed their life, and all of Sanju's hard work, effort, blood, and sweat paid off.

• In 2007, Sanju became a part of the U-13 Kerela team, then U-15 in 2008, and so on.
• He was not only a part of the U-13, U-16, U-19 Kerala teams but also captained at the U16 and U19 levels.
• In 2012, Sanju Samson was then named for India's Under-19 cricket team that played in the 2012 ACC U-19 Asia Cup.
• He also became the vice-captain of the Indian Under-19 Cricket team in June 2013 for the Top End Under-19 Series. Then came Sanju Samson's two half-centuries in India U-19's Youth Test series against Sri Lanka.
• Soon, he was made the VC for Under-19 Cricket World Cup in 2014. Sanju continued to show that he was not only a consistent player but a brilliant one at that.

Sanju Samson, the Kerala-born wicketkeeper, made his international cricket debut for the Indian team in 2015, about three years after he started playing in the Indian Premier League. Sanju made his IPL debut when the Rajasthan Royals drafted him for the first time in 2013 at a salary of INR 10 lakh. He proved himself to be a talented player with an explosive strike rate, and the Rajasthan Royals increased his IPL salary to INR 4 Cr. for the next two seasons. 

He then played for Delhi Daredevils during the 2016 & 2017 seasons with an IPL cricket salary of INR 4.2 Cr. After two years, Rajasthan Royals reacquired the player in 2018 at a renewed fee of  INR 8 Cr. Sanju Samson has since been playing for the Rajasthan Royals. In fact, he is the team captain now, with a current season/ annual salary of INR 14 Cr. This makes him one of the league's highest-paid players.
