Shailesh J. Mehta School of Management - SJMSOM IIT Bombay Placement had a successful process with all the students getting placed during the days that the drive was held. The report of the same is presented below:

  • The average salary rose to INR 20.8 LPA from INR 19.06 LPA last year.

  • The highest salary stood at INR 32.4 LPA, whereas the median salary went up to INR 20.3 LPA.

Top recruiters on the campus included Accenture, Flipkart, GEP, Google, IBM, Mondelez, Nestle, Procter & Gamble, PwC, and Tata Global Beverages. A glimpse at the average CTC offered to various student segments:

The fact that the top 30% of students in the batch bagged a package of INR 28.8 lakhs, speaks volumes about the faith that the companies have in SJMSOM’s expertise.

Domain wise breakdown


Below is the segmentation of the 2017-2019 batch on the basis of the offers they accepted:

The largest percentage of the student population accepted offers in ‘Other’ domains. The next preferable domains as the IT one and close on its heels was the Consulting domain.

Below is the percentage of visiting companies that belonged to different domains.

21%- the highest number i.e.-of the visiting companies belonged to the FMCG domain. This is because SJMSOM has always been a sought-after campus for the top recruiters in this domain. These included big names like Asian Paints, Britannia, Johnson  & Johnson, Marico, Mondelez, Nestle, Pidilite, and Procter & Gamble.

The next bulk of companies to visit were the IT ones comprising 21% of the totality. Accenture Strategy, Capgemini, Google, GEP, Hitachi Consulting, IBM, ValueLabs, and Wipro offered profiles in Business Analytics.

16% of the companies which belonged to the Consulting domain included the above-mentioned companies, too. In this domain, they offered profiles in Business Analytics, Management Consulting, Procurement Consulting, and Product Management. The giant PwC offered Management Consulting profiles.

The 18% of companies making up the BFSI domain were comprised of leading recruiters like Goldman Sachs, ICICI Bank, IVP, Maybank, Nomura, RBL, and YES BANK offered the profiles of Business Analyst, Financial Operations, Global Finance, Internal Audit, Product Efficiency, Liabilities, and Product Management.

In the manufacturing domain, industry leaders like ACG Worldwide, Cummins, Piramal, Tata Motors, and Whirlpool offered profiles in Operations, Sales and Marketing, Strategic Sourcing, and Supply Chain Management.

13% of the companies that fell in the ‘Others’ category offered lucrative and niche roles, too.

Regular recruiters like Cochlear and Maersk offered profiles in Business Development, Commercial, Sales and Marketing, and Strategy. OYO Rooms recruited for a profile in Operations. The E-commerce leader, Flipkart, returned to pick students for profiles in Design, Operations, and Planning.

Being a highly ranked school, SJMSOM IIT Bombay placement is held in high regard by students, faculty, and companies. The diversity in profiles offered and the accompanying packages was a testament to the quality of its MBA program. Next year, all 3 are expected to be on the rise.

Also, last year the maximum visiting companies were from the BFSI domain (21%) followed by the FMCG/ FMCD/ Healthcare domain (20%). This year, the same crown was shared between FMCG/ FMCD and IT (both 21%).

The only considerable differences arise in the number of new recruiters that visited campus and the average salary offered. Rest of the parameters remain the same or differ by a digit. This can be interpreted as an upward trend only which can be expected to become more positive next year, owing to SJMSOM’s reputation among firms.
