My journey to United Breweries Limited was quite challenging. United Breweries Limited is synonymous with advancement and innovative advertising. It is supplemented by a solid conveyance arrangement that envelops a great spread of claimed and contract manufacturing offices all over the nation. Getting an opportunity to work with this organization, thus, made my dream come true. However, getting in wasn't a cup of tea.
The selection process for an HR Trainee at United Breweries Limited is quite tedious as it involves multiple stages:
A lot of preparation was needed to crack these stages. The first step was to make an attractive CV. Academic achievements should be the main highlight. An internship with a known organization would play to your advantage. In addition, include all your qualifications, skills and achievements. The next step is to cover all the basics of Human Resources. Read everything even remotely related to the job that you are going to take. I even read about all the labor laws and internet resource content which proved really useful in the Group Discussion. Also, cover the basics of your graduation as these can also be asked in the interview.
Some key points which can be used to crack the interview and group discussion are as follows:
The organization did the initial shortlisting based on past academic performances. The Recruitment head and the Vice President of Human Resource visited the campus for a group discussion. The topic for discussion was “ROLE OF 21st Century HR”. I was able to express my opinions clearly since I had already done a lot of research on Human Resources.
The final stage of my journey to United Breweries Limited was an Interview with the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO). But before the interview with CHRO, we had a stress interview with the Recruitment Head. Being calm and confident were the keys to facing this interview. The interviewer asked questions from the CV. He also created situations to test our mental abilities. I was able to pass this stage with ease as I kept a clear head and took things one at a time.
The interview with the CHRO was quite informal which covered our CV, past experiences, and internship experiences. They also asked questions about my family and the languages that I knew. This interview soothed any nerves I might have had as this was quite friendly!
Overall, the selection process tested our ability to deal with stressful situations, decision-making skills and creativity. The salary was non-negotiable but it didn't matter much as I was mainly looking for work experience and the development of my skills.

- Be confident in everything you do. Confidence is something that recruiters look for in an HR Trainee.
- Articulate your thoughts in such a way that when you speak, you are clear and direct and everybody is able to follow your thought process.
