SPJIMR Introduced Virtual Labs to Enhance the Classroom Experience
The Globalization has made the far world nearer and since time immemorial business and trade has been the link and still today it has maintained its importance. Even though, the way of doing business has changed, since, it is no longer a prerogative for the firms to procure an item scarcely produced in that part of the world and sell it at high-profit. Business today has become more people-centric, every behaviour is linked with consumerism and this makes it indispensable to be studied as a part of the curriculum.
Various B-schools cater to this need, however, the famous SP Jain Institute of Management and Research (SPJIMR) has taken an extra long step by introducing ‘Virtual Labs’ in its curricula. SPJIMR is one of the Top 20 B-Schools, ranked among the list of best institutes in Forbes for their one year Global MBA programme.
Students will have access to six new virtual labs which can revolutionise the whole learning experience. Nearly 2 decades ago, technology and business were two separate domains with minimal confluence in terms of dependency. However, there has been a paradigm shift in the way business is conducted with its dependency on technology now.
It would hard for us to imagine an awesome ‘Amazon Experience’ without the absence of proper technology and its aiding logistics. Technology has seeped the very core of our lifestyle which makes it all the more important to add technological experience early-on to aid in learning and research.
We live in a data-driven world and technologies like Blockchain, Internet of Things, machine learning, application programming interface, cybersecurity and AR/VR (augmented reality and virtual reality) are fast evolving and replacing all the conventional modules. Thus, to make the students understand new approaches which will be quite necessary for them while taking up professions. SPJIMR faculty members will train its students on these technologies through series of workshops.
These are virtual labs and can be used by all its students to gain practical experience. Students can use these labs to design new ventures and understand the concept behind various exponential technologies like Big Data, Artificial intelligence, Machine Learning, Blockchain amongst others.
SPJIMR has partnered with Dynamic Grid for the design and development of the blockchain, IoT and API labs. The school is planning on releasing Integrated Development Environments (IDE) to host Ideathons/Hackathon and other Innovation Programmes in future. Students will be able to access these cloud-based labs from anywhere.
The institute is also setting up labs for deep learning and for 3D work- both of which will give students practical exposure to theoretical concepts.
This can be another practical-oriented learning and less time-consuming approach apart from the various student engagement initiatives conducted by various brands on campus.
