It was a good year for SPJIMR as it heightened salaries, domestic offers, and international offers poured in abundantly for the students. SPJIMR Placement report follows.

• More than 50% of the batch accepted PPOs/ PPIs.

• The average salary rose to INR 22.90 lakhs from INR 22.24 lakhs last year.

• 72% of the batch received offers of 20 LPA or more.

• 21.5% of the offers were equal to or greater than INR 25 LPA.

• 74.9% of the offers were equal to or greater than INR 20 LPA.

• 95.1% of the offers were equal to or greater than INR 16 LPA.

The accepted PPOs were from companies like Boston Consulting Group, Tata Administrative Services, Amazon, Hindustan Unilever, Procter & Gamble, General Mills, JM Financial, etc.

Top recruiters visiting the campus included McKinsey & Company, Boston Consulting Group, Bain & Company, Tata Administrative Services, Goldman Sachs, etc. to name a few.

Domain-wise breakdown

General Management and Leadership Roles

Tata Administrative Services, Mahindra & Mahindra, Bajaj Finserv, American Express, Reliance, and Airtel made 23 offers in middle management positions.

Consulting/ IT Consulting

Profiles offered in this domain include strategic consulting, management consulting, supply chain consulting, financial advisory and IT consulting.

Top consulting firms like McKinsey & Company, Boston Consulting Group, Bain & Company, Deloitte, PwC, EY, Capgemini, Bristlecone and GEP, etc. participated in the placement process.

35% of the batch accepted their offers. 12 of these offers were international ones.

E-commerce

Profiles offered in this domain include Product Management, Program Management, Digital Marketing, Supply-Chain Management, and Operations Analytics.

17% of the batch accepted these roles and was placed in e-commerce firms which included regular recruiters like Amazon, Cloudtail, Flipkart, Uber, Paytm and Go-MMT, etc.

IT/ ITES

Hindustan Unilever, Asian Paints, Pidilite and Mondelez offered Corporate IT roles in this domain, whereas Analytics roles were offered by giants like American Express, Barclays and Philips.

On the other hand, IT companies such as Microsoft, Google, Media.net, Wipro, Infosys, and Capgemini offered sales and consulting roles.

Marketing and Operations

About 19% of the batch was placed in leading FMCGs like Hindustan Unilever, Procter & Gamble, General Mills, L’Oreal, Asian Paints, Colgate Palmolive, Johnson & Johnson, Pidilite, Marico and Mondelez.

The companies looked for gender diversity and hired freshers as well as students with up to 3 years of experience.

Finance

Goldman Sachs, Citi, American Express, HSBC IB, Duff & Phelps, Bajaj Finserv, IIFL, JM Financial, DBS Bank, Barclays made offers across a variety of roles ranging from investment banking, corporate/retail banking, equity research and NBFC, etc.

Amazon, Sterlite Power, Nestle and Airtel, and other offered Corporate finance/strategy roles.

Comparative Analysis

Here is how 2019 fared in comparison to previous years.

Overall, it was a good placement year for SPJIMR. The students, bolstered by their rigorous on-campus track and The Global Fastrack Programme which takes place every year in the US, performed well in their Autumn internships and secured PPOs well in advance.

SPJIMR’s curriculum and training would, thus, ensure good placements for its students in the coming years as well.
